Stafford Traffic.

We went past a couple of hours earlier, no lights but a sign saying "stop here until the green light shows" nothing else around. everyone was passing it.
All gone by the time I walked back up about 3-ish

For tiny bit of work they did at the side of the road, they could have just put a few cones around while they worked. Road there is plenty wide enough to keep both ways flowing ..in my opinion like...

Silliest part was traffic tailing back in all directions, whilst lights were on green for the non- existent building site traffic.

Heard quite a few moans from open windows in stationary vehicles up the bank

Were some of those voices saying: "Oh what a frightful bother these traffic delays are" ?

or was it more like:

"F*!- **&&& sh**** BEEP BEEP ***kers." ?

Even the drain cleaning guys had stop and go traffic controls as they moved along the road the other day. Most places there was room to pass without going over the white line. (Most annoyingly they were leaving some of the rubbish ,obtained from the drain, in the gutter along with all the other rubbish previously there. All ready to be washed back down into the drain again!)

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Hubby was saying something about Baswich lane is going to be closed on 22nd July as well as the lights by Sandon Road by The Four Crosses
Baswich Lane is closed to repair the middle bridge which was damaged by two idiots deciding to drive into it.

Well at least I think it is. With SCC, it could be shut just for the hell of it.

Sounds like something bad has happened outside Sainsbury's. Air ambulance in attendance. Road closed by Aldi and cars being diverted through St Georges.

Not been out but apparently there was an accident near the MWay garage in Gaol Square so roads had to be closed ad Sainsburys was the best access area for the chopper

Looked like it might have bad one. Ambulance and Police were at scene when i went to Wilko's via Queensway n Chell road just before 10am, All roads were still open then. There was a car down the side of the former GE building to the left, on the entrance to the electric station set back from the road. Paramedics were tending to someone either in or buy the car (couldn't quite see). They closed the roads just after 10, heared the air ambulance coming in while i was still in Wilko's.

4 other cars at side of road, think they might have just been witnesses though, not sure.

Thoughts are with all involved.

I always feel a bit vulnerable walking up the side of the old power station. I like to keep an eye on approaching traffic. There's an odd camber change as you come through the lights from Queensway and a pedestrian has very limited options if there's an excursion onto the footpath. It's not many years since the Foregate Street sign there got a good wallop.

1. There is no petrol station
2. Then again, from my early quote, I read it was near the MWay garage but it was nearly 100 yards before that.

I often fear about people losing control as they run the red as well as approaching a downhill bend. Not saying that is how this happened, but landing where this car did took some tragic combination.

She prob was mistaking the garage as being a petrol station i reckon.
ive never had any need to venture around there so excuse my ignorance.

As i say , just quoting what she had heard in town so there may not be any truth in any of it.

A couple of years back when we had very bad snow and ice I lost control of the car going down that hill, it is deceptively steep.

Thankfully it was in the very early morning and there was no one else about. I am still extra vigilant around that stretch.

I was witness to a RTA quite a few years back.
A group of people in a car collided with someone on a pushbike going towards Spath nr Uttoxeter.
The accident was due to poor visibility due to low sun.
I managed to pull away 3 of the girls and get them to the roadside whilst emergency services was called.
It was very apparent the cyclist was dead on impact and therefor nothing could be done to save her.

Although i handled the situation at the time, it wasnt until i was home later that day that i broke down and cried , i presume the shock had hit by then .

Its something i will never ever forget.

Traffic bad, was queuing from Greyfriars up to the co-op stone rd.

In Stone it was queuing from the main roundabout ( going south, where one turns left to town centre) all the way up to roundabout at the darlaston inn.

a500 stoke about 3 miles of queues.

That was just over an hour ago.

Do not listen to signal radio, they are talking out their arse.

Ireland does have this sign -
Caution-Children-At-Play-Sign-743055-31.jpg

- although they are yellow now, in line with most other warning signs.

Unlike a UK play street, motor traffic is not excluded, but there would generally be a 30kph limit and a presumption of negligence if you did hit one.

I saw several today, on fairly major roads -

Street View example here.

I believe that @ATJ may have modelled for the original artwork.
I have discovered an additional form of this warning.
