The Four Crosses temporary one way system is prison end of Sandon Road to Albert Terrace, so the same way as Marston Road, so if you head down Sandon Road from Beaconside end you will be diverted towards Corporation Street and then can cut through to Crooked Bridge Road.

Bumpy bumpy.

I see that we're having roadworks in Great Bridgeford again, around the railway bridge area, starting on August 12th...

...but, only for six months, although we should "expect delays".

Probably thanks to Stan Robinson and his heavies, the road from M6 J14 to GB is falling apart again, along with the Bridge. Six months of jams and chaos, no doubt. Surely 'they' are missing the chance to extend the western bypass right through Doxey Marshes to Seighford.

You speak of Stan like he can still do something about it. Poorly worded!
I'm sure you are being either ironic or sarcastic about putting a road right across the marshes?
Correct. There is no bypass!

I look forward to my drive home after visiting town this evening then. I saw all the big machines parked up on the layby by Derrington last night and wondered what on earth could be happening.

I would seriously consider avoiding that stretch.

I was going from Wolverhampton Road to Doxey Road, but, knowing what I know now, I would have gone via Queensway/Chell Road.

I rarely use that part of Newport Road...

It might mean the impending new car purchase comes sooner than I'd like. The question is, how do I get from The Island to Tesco? Round Queensway onto Chell Road, down Station Road and make a mad dash for it across the lights?

The OH has traded in his Range Rover for an A5 and will also need to get home from The Island. That will be really fun.

Tesco is in the middle of it, no way in/out with a motor vehicle without going through some of it, but it would only be the short section up to the bridge traffic lights.

From The Island, it would be worth the extra few hundred yards to go Queensway/Chell Road/Tenterbanks/Victoria Road/Station Road, I think - especially if a Tesco approach with a vehicle is not necessary - it's a five minute walk (if that, for you)...

Several five minute walks?

Or take it gently - it was like driving on ball bearings through a volcanic eruption a couple of hours ago - it may have subsided a bit by tonight.

I would suggest that only drivers who have successfully completed a Paris-Dakar Rally at least twice should attempt the section of Newport Road between Friars' Terrace and Station Road.
The annual throw stones at a stretch of road and call it resurfacing*, I presume? Bloody dangerous.
