Vegan vegetable pesto tarts!

Just Roll puff pastry, big dollop of vegan pesto topped with tomatoes, pepper, red onion and olives with a salad and asparagus side finished with a sprinkle of toasted pumpkin seeds!

Took 10mins to make an husband commented that the vegan pesto was better than the 'real' stuff!

Nom nom nom!

Sitting outside the Harbour Inn near Southwold enjoying a pint or two of the local beer after a long walk in the sunshine and just overheard the lady on the table next to me ask the barmaid whether the vegan fish (and chips) was fresh and locally caught?????

How does that work?

There was a random post on Facebook last week asking 'if you're a vegan that eats fish, what are you called'?

'An Idiot' , came to mind - or 'not a vegan' !

Maybe you have to catch potatoes in Southwold, not dig them up....

Have you not heard of the great Suffolk tofu hunt? Hundreds of local tribesmen gather on the shore every year, dressed in fishing waders and nun's habits, ready to spear the salt-water tofu on its annual migration to its North Sea feeding grounds...

Battered halloumi also available. Not fond of halloumi but it is better than tofu which makes me ill.

Well I obviously have but didn't want to sound condescending to the lady with no doubtedly far better experience than oneself.

I think I saw a few of those fishing waders and nuns habits folk around after the Latitude Festival and wondered what they were up to,now I know thanks :)

For those who might be interested in vegan, vegetarian and gluten free beers, a list of those available at the imminent Great British Beer Festival might give some idea. Sorry about the random order, it is as they are appearing on various bars. The bar names are odd, Plumage Archer, Pioneer & Halcyon are old malting barley varieties but I don't think the others are.

Should have said, many of these real ales come from craft breweries so keep an eye out at Candid.

Having been amused by this phrase - "Wool that is 100% cotton..." - in a BBC article on recycling -.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49280709 - I wondered if there is a vegan consensus about wool?

As far as I am aware they would try to avoid it?

It starts getting expensive as you then have to try to avoid synthetic materials (bad for the environment) then you also want ethically sourced clothing (good for people) the list goes on and the price goes up...

Is second hand clothing OK, seems like if it may go to waste it should be used, but I assume vegans still shy away from leather etc. even though to me buying second hand animal based is better than brand new synthetic.
