Thanks Gramaisc, I have 'independent' confirmation in writing as to the fate of Chauffage Naturellement.

I also have 'alledged' information that the €40k courtcase detailed by *him* above only resulted in a fraction of the amount claimed. I also have information about workmanship and falsification of electrician/plumbing certificates used to set up said company.

I also hear the Chambre de Metiers (Similar to Chamber of Commence) and the local Gendarmes have investigated him in the past.

Love <3 this thread.....
All we need now is another reincarnation of 'Sooty' - Genuine *insert noun here* or other - to pretend he's just some sort of impartial observer defending the honour of himself.

Then i can make some questionable remarks about the French, and be threatened with legal action at the nearest French beak.

Actually, i won't do that anymore - one of the saddest outcomes of our recent history is that i now feel unable to engage in mindless ribbing of the French, even though i know full well that it is reciprocated, because it is no longer mindless. This is unfortunate but necessary.

Still hoping that Sooty shows up to keep it rolling - or perhaps he has a 'friend' who would like to stand up for him...

Just thought residents of the fair town of Stafford ought to know that Nick Paine has been summonded to appear at a local tribunal in Coutances, France, on Monday 13th May over two claims for outstanding payments to people who are owed money by him. Whether he will appear is a moot point.

I have it on good authority that 'Sooty' failed to appear at the tribunal regarding outstanding payments owed by him, apparently the judge will make a final ruling shortly. I also understand that 2 building projects have been left unfinished now that his company has been liquidated.

Ive been following this interesting thread for some time having had dealings with the said person in the past... but feel compelled to shout hoorah!!!!

Also not knowing much about the laws in France (cue a Genuine response) does this mean that the homeowners property is sold to pay off outstanding debts in the event of insufficient assets?? Also falsifying certificates... isn't that a criminal offence? Does anyone here know about french law.... hmmm?

As previously reported, said person, has been investigated by the local police and Chambre de Metiers (akin to Chambre of Commerce with a sprinkling of Trading Standards) about shoddy workmanship and/or overpricing.

The outcome of the recent tribunal action is still awaited.

The French take their company registration very seriously, as you have to be registered for different work activities: i.e. painting, building, gardening, etc. There is now no one 'cover-all' activity that mean you can be an 'odd-job' man.

If the court finds against said person, then a court order is issued telling him to pay whoever needs paying, if he still fails to pay, then goods can be seized up to the value of the debt.

However, in France, the wheels of Justice do have a tendency to work quite slowly.

AFAIK, the outstanding debts are fairly small in comparison to the value of his house.

Apparently the recent judgement of a court case against said person has been delayed until Spetember this year, due to a large number of cases at the court.

However, I have it on good authority that both current clients of said person are not impressed at being left high and dry.

People 'in the know' locally, tend to steer away from dealings with said person, more easily done now he isn't in business.

Rumours have it, that when he first moved to France, he put a deposit on a house. In France, you have 10 working days to then make your mind up. However, said person decided after that timescale he didn't want aforementioned house. He then, alledgedly, went along to retrieve daughters shoes from house (why?). It appears then, that, alledgedly, a small conflagration took hold of a barn on the property. And that, my friends, was used as a reason to get his money back.

Rumours abound that he has wound up his company to stop any more people claiming against him.

At some point, his luck may just run out.

An interesting thread, as it has been heard a further client is investigating the steps required to chase for money paid and workmanship then deemed dangerous. A huissier/surveyors report has been completed and is now being considered for the value of work required to complete and therefore sue for.
Hope he's looking over his shoulder others may on the way. One can only hope so.

It’s generally considered polite when joining a forum to say “hello’ before going full on with the attitude.
Hope you haven't signed up just to comment on this thread alone, like everyone else has?

There's nothing wrong with that, Glam! Passers by are more than welcome to sign up if a particular thread interests them - unless they are just trolling, of course, but this post from @Frenchie seems to be on the "good" side. There is definitely no requirement or expectation that they should post in the "Hello..." thread. :)

I am glad to see that this thread seems to be tending towards a happy ending. Or as happy an ending as one can expect, in a thread about lost money and ruined homes. :(

Afternoon all,

Another update on a certain person now residing in France, it may be something to do with the post by 'Frenchie' above.

Said person alledgedly failed to turn up for an earlier court hearing as I mentioned some months ago, anyway, according to 'ears on the ground', he was summonsed to appear in court this week (w/e 16th Oct 2020), apparently he wasn't given an option to say 'non' or my pet rabbit has died etc.

Another disappointed client has surfaced - apparently work done on their holiday home whilst the clients were in the UK working, was substandard and apparently overpriced. As far as I am aware, they paid his bill and told him never to darken their door again.

The local hussier (akin to debt collectors), have, shall we say, more than a few files awaiting resolution of financial compension from said person.

The pressure is slowly building up.

As mentioned before, his company has now been wound up - by himself, so no more clients can be scammed/left with expensive repairs, he has, alledgedly, been putting himself to use by raising lambs and pigs to sell/exchange for services. This did not impress the local facebook forum and he was promptly banned for advertising as such, as this is apparently frowned upon in France.

One other thing, apparently a local farmers cows got out of their field and trampled all over his beloved lawn/cricket pitch, he persued the farmer for compensation!

Absolute quality reportage, dude.

Your efforts are appreciated over the water.

Who ever said I was in France?!

Anyway, my source(s) inform me it is today, Wednesday 21st October, that he is in court as a defendant, not last week - (sorry, lost in translation!)

He has hired a advocat (solicitor) to defend his position - rumour has it that he is trying to claim he did the work as a 'personal friend' rather than him being employed as a bona fide contractor.

One wonders about his financial state, as his wife teaches english as a second language via zoom/skype - apparently she has some well to do clients - it has been reported that various french premier league football clubs use her services.

Edit: Nearly forgot, I have been reliabily informed that further reports about falsification of trade certificates, shoddy workmanship, unfinished work etc, have been reported to the local police and Chambre de Metiers, within the lastnumber of months. These are in addition to those reported some years ago.

:master:

I have heard from my contact who reports that Nick Paine LOST HIS CASE at court last week.

Apparently they found him liable for the whole €20k being claimed.

The hussier (debt collection agency) is apparently going in to recover the amount imminently.

More details when I receive them.
