Does anyone know why The Blythe has closed down, went over there at the weekend to find it looking almost derelict?

It was closed last time I had a look in May/June time last year. Haven't heard that it has been open since

There have been some problems over recent years, I understand, with some complaints about the noise levels on their 'Music Nights' and a campaign of extortion directed against the licencee. Perhaps these have been instrumental in the closure?.

They took over a thriving business and made an excellent job of running it into the ground, and assaulting an applicant who was being interviewed for a barmaid job didnt help matters

Mmmm, seems to have been a real 'happening' place - I always thought of it as a quiet rural backwater..

There are rumours that its going to be knocked down and a number of new builds built on the site.
If your looking for a place to eat out try the Shrewsbury arms in Kingstone about a mile up the road from the Blythe ,i can recommend it.

How do I edit this?
I can't find a news story to back it up, but the tale I heard from another band that played there was that it closed when the landlady was sent to prison for setting fire to a caravan on their campsite.

Blimey that Landlady's middle name must be trouble!!

I dealt with her a couple of times, and I could see why really. I'm not the kind of person who gets into fights or arguments at all, but she managed to rub me the wrong way more than once.

Hi Everyone here is some news for you all direct from the Blythe Inn itself , My name is Martin Beard and i have been drinking at the Blythe for around twenty five years until it closed down , Barry and Linda Edwards turned the pub into a thriving business and ran it for twelve years , then unfortunatly they sold it and it rapidly went down hill , it is now in quite a bad state , but the very very good news is it is being renovated and will reopen as a public house once more , i know this for a fact as my friend has bought it and i am working there right at this moment in time , you can follow the restoration on Facebook just search and you will find it , and of course please " Like " it and feel free to leave any comments , we look forward to the reopening and to seeing all the customers again . This is not a hoax it is absoloutly true .

The Blythe reopened in June after a complete refurbishment and is flourishing. The restaurant reopened a few weeks later and the food is well worth a trip out there. Tracy & Adam have done a great job and deserve to succeed.
