Acton Gate closed this morning, no access to M6 South Junction 13 or Penkridge. I recall there were 2 planned closures late last month and early this month but this, irritatingly, I didn't see prior notification of. Unsure if it's now reopened as this was at 5am and also unsure if its going to be happening again. Junction 14 South was down to 1 Lane.

I have received notice that Sandon Road is to be "resurfaced", using the gravel and gunge method, at some undefined point in the near future. A shame, really, it seems to be still largely OK north of Lotus lights, apart from the many Severn Trent bodges.
It looks like today is the day - the grid outside my house has just been taped over, to prevent the gravel from falling down it, I suppose - which seems largely superfluous, as the perforated curbstones run the whole length of the street...

Perhaps they will leave some taped up and we can enjoy again some of the delightful water features as days of old :stafford:

Entrance to Acton Trussell by J13 completely closed off from A449 tonight when I've just come past. Signs on the Northbound just before J13 saying A449 was closed, and those signs saying the same on the slip road off. But A449 was open in Stafford direction.

Sandon road between Beaconside and lights by the Shell garage had just had piles of gravel plonked on it this afternoon. Think I must have been one of the first to drive over it as the lorries were still there parked up, even crawling along I could hear my car being pelted with stones underneath.

Stone road entrance towards town was closed off by Redhill island as well at 4pm.

Yes, Mill Lane into Acton Trussell is closed until the 23rd I think.

Apparently The Moat House are offering 20% off food during this time.

I noticed that the road leading down to the council buildings past Primarks (new to the area) was surfaced in the normal 21'st century fashion using tarmac.
Cannot believe a council would still use the tar/chippings method in heavily used areas with traffic / cyclists / pedestrians as history tells us that those who do not own the vehicle they drive will likely just ignore any signs to go slow.

I see the new spattering of gravel has already started wearing through on the Newport road.

What's the point if you don't relay the road surface properly?

I've seen deeper snow in the middle of July than the depth of whatever they use nowadays.

Also, the newly laid loose chippings on the A34 Stone Road especially from Stafford Common to the McDonalds/Lloyds roundabout and especially outside the Bristol Street garage, are already worn through 2 days after it was done. You can see exposed shiny areas of the old road surface showing through, which makes it dangerous especially where the braking area is to the roundabout, as the road is more uneven than it was before. This is a shame and in stark contrast to the McDonalds roundabout next to it which was recently redone properly and smoothly (albeit SLOWLY) using Tarmac as the surface was deemed unsuitable due to safety and the large amount of accidents on it. This is either due to way the loose chippings were laid or the fact Stafford drivers ignore most speed limit signs, especially 10mph ones. In fact, most of them, also including traffic lights and box junctions. Cars were driving on the newly laid surface right after it was laid and weaving around the lorries which were distributing the loose chippings and the rain which probably didn't help - rather than closing the road for a while whilst they settled or having rolling road block like I have seen in other places to allow the road to set. Looks a bit shoddy to me.

I followed the sweeper up Newport Road this afternoon, and it did seem to be picking up the stones that had been previously stuck to the surface.

On Sandon Road, because the brushes rotate forwards on the outside of the vehicle, and the brushes were mostly riding up the kerb, a lot of the 'gutter grit' was just being swept into the perforated kerb drains...

Went up Stone Road yesterday. I think I’m gonna need another clear-coat stick for my bonnet...

My PCP return is going to be fun.
