250,000th poster!
Insert usual husband rant (you all know the score by now), complaint about a slightly sore back and the existence of tuna :urgh::barf:. It's Spawn4's birthday and she loves tuna pasta bake hence I'm having to deal with the vile stuff.
I also love tuna pasta bake, sadly no one else in my household does.... On my way round to yours now.... :)

:hugs:

I’ve not made jam for 10 years but this week I’ve made
Strawberry.
Strawberry and Raspberry
Damson
Marrow and Ginger

It’s going on the church stall tomorrow for sale.

Follow up from this (yes, it’s blow my own trumpet time :))

Being somewhat surprised that people actually bought my jam, I made more jam, and then more and more.

Over the last 3 weeks I’ve made 75 jars of jam. I kept making jam and couldn’t stop. I was so pleased that people were liking it and coming back for more.

I actually got to saturation point yesterday when I thought “that’s it for this year, no more jam.”
I’d quite like to do something different for a change, perhaps housework or watching paint dry.

Then Norman came round “I’ve been to the Castle picking blackberries, I know that you like making jam”

Sometimes it seems there's a dark purpose back boning the Universe … and you just have to accept it. If you don't, vast eternal plans fall into deep chaos and the very fabric of space and time are put asunder.

Of course this might be avoided if you get dead jammy in terms of luck. (Sorry … couldn't resist that one.) :teef:

I've made a load tonight; need to empty the freezer of fruit to stockpile. I get really impatient waiting for it to set though. Do you use a thermometer?

Yes I use a thermometer, but I still rely on the method of putting a few plates in the freezer.
Then when it’s reached setting point, put a drop on the cold plate, if it crinkles then it will set.
I keep testing every few minutes to achieve setting point. This can take between 5 or 15 minutes.

Underripe fruit sets better than over ripe fruit.
If fruit has been frozen add a few chopped up cooking apples and the juice of 2 lemons (high in pectin which helps it set).

Thanks. I've got pectin powder too. I just don't think I boil it for long enough.

Took my Summer hanging basket down today .
The recent high winds took its toll on the poor thing so i put it out of its misery.

Winter basket will be ready in around 4 weeks though ;)

Equinox on Monday. By the old money the end of summer. Interestingly today at lunchtime I sat with a pint outside of my local in the sunshine, been gloriously sunny all week. But on the way home it started to rain.

What is it the Starks say ? … "Winter is coming." (Miserable bunch of f******.) :heyhey:

I prefer to look at it this way, just three months from now the nights will be drawing out.

I’m a little bit bored with making jam, but I didn’t want to waste the blackberries that Norman has picked but were taking up too much space in the freezer.
Also I’d been given apples.
So when life gives you stuff...

So I decided to make another batch of jam.
There’s a MacMillan fundraiser on Thursday, I’ll donate some to that.

Many years ago I read a SciFi novel called 'Greener than you think.' Very prophetic for it's day. In it a fellah treated his lawn with some kind of potion and the grass started to grow, and grow … and spread … and spread ... to the point of a grass apocalypse.

I'm starting to think Carole is producing a similar kind of yarn: 'Jammyer than you Think.' :o

Enjoying a drop of red.

Enough already.

I don’t like waste so I just keep making stuff.
Cakes, pies, pasties, crumbles, biscuits, the list goes on.

Honestly, just because “i can”, doesn’t mean that I want spend every awakening hour in the kitchen.

I’m having a day off tomorrow, I’ve decided.
