Did expect a lot of fines to be flying through letter boxes , there were a hell of a lot of cars left there the other day when I walked down to B&Q and not many actual shoppers in those shops.

On 'Spotted' today there was an 'announcement' that the free parking period in the station's multi-storey car park was now forty five minutes, up from the previous twenty minutes, which was always a bit tight in the unlikely event that a train might just possibly be a few minutes late..

There were confirmatory statements that this was true - but, on going past just now, the sign still says "twenty minutes".

Two conflicting signs. When I raised it with one of the team leaders at the station, i was told:
Officially 20 mins but we’ve changed it locally to 45 to help with congestion at the front

Bizarre.

It would be a fairly simple matter to cover up the (ir)relevant part on the main sign, perhaps with an arrow pointing at the other sign, or, just maybe, with the revised information.

Maybe just change the 20 to 45?

Gotta say parking here on Sao Miguel is awesome. Its 1c per minute, billed by the minute. Its free after 7pm so any spent funds roll over to 8am the next morning automatically. There is an app so you can sort parking remotely, in fact the biggest problem is putting money onto it if you don't have a Portuguese bank account. Luckily you get €1 free for signing up so we just make new accounts.

Saw this on Reddit and thought of this thread...

I was trying to find a parking spot at my university. The lot was notoriously crowded but my campus didn't have a lot of options. While searching, I saw a Corvette taking up FOUR prime spots near the front of the lot. After about ten minutes of waiting/looking for a spot one opened up towards the back of the lot. Furious at the nerve of the driver being so inconsiderate, I wrote a note saying, "Sorry I hit your car, you probably won't even notice the damage" and left it on their windshield. When I got out of class and was headed back to my car, I saw a very stereotypical college aged Corvette owner frantically searching their vehicle while yelling into their phone. I don't know who they were talking to, but I feel bad for them having to deal with this person.

Interesting thing I noticed in The Hough: there is no “no returning within” clause. Had to check as I returned there to grab a second thing.

That’s a point too, when those clauses do exist, can you come and go as much as you like during the maximum stay period?

And what if someone else was to return, unknowingly, in the same vehicle?

What if you buy something which needs returning and replacing?

The ‘no return’ thing is a farce.

Just seen on Twitter that our friends at Cup a Cha have posted there will be a Marshall on Kingsmead retail park car park tomorrow and going forwards stopping all footfall into the town....

Sean Sanders New signage is in place advising that the 2 hour parking is for people who remain inside the retail park. If you leave the retail park you risk being fined. I think they have a similar process on the tk max car park

Amy Walsh I have approached the warden and asked exactly how they are planning to monitor this. If you are seen leaving a car and walking into town a note of your registration will be taken and if you do not adhere to move your car I believe you will be fined. I said footfall is what this town needs and this will have a huge impact on small businesses trying to survive this end of town as is it.

I’ve called the council. Unwilling to put any pressure on or help as they do not own the car park. No trade - we can’t pay our business rates.

Not many places where you can park for free these days
