Yes exactly.
A career politician, she wants a seat but doesn’t particularly care where.

Incidentally, there were two local candidates but they were removed from the process by Conservative Central Office last week.
Sounds about right

Thinking about this a bit more, it suggests to me that they were worried that The Brexit Party could win the seat.

My father is going to love someone like that as a candidate... :/

This

Johnson acts like Farage, to beat Farage

Brexit, to Johnson, is an irrelevance, everything is simply about he and power .

At any cost

To us all

Whatever your thoughts on him, there appears to be part of the nation worshipping him like the next big thing! Austerity, food banks, NHS, sell offs, etc etc etc seem to be irrelevant as long as people see us leave Europe..
A frightening time if you actually educate yourself about the scenario. "We've got WTO terms" doesn't cover it as things are on the verge of changing on many fronts!

As was stated in another thread on here, two and a half years ago, "We want out whatever the cost!"

Until that reality of doing it badly smacks you in the face like a shovel! Since the start of the process a number of bigger companies in this town have already shipped jobs abroad and more will follow. t now seems to be up to the individual to innovate, deviate and survive. I am in that category!

I was watching Return of the Pink Panther recently...

Excellent product placement of a tube of Evostick

Even better than Bobbie Plant's One Show plug for Stafford Rangers

Have the Libdems got a candidate for Stafford?
I'm fairly sure the conglomeration of words that is - 'where's Barry Stamp when you need him' - have never been quite so terrifying.

It is quite probably to our eternal shame that we're a dogfight between the Brexit Party Ltd and BoZo's Circus of Shite.

But hey, Stafford, you do you.

I’m struggling to find where she stands on anything. It doesn’t sound like she’s too fond of JRM though?

I'm sceptical, I would have much preferred a local candidate and someone with clear opinions. All I can see is that she is pro Brexit but is also seemingly very much pro establishment and globalism. I know we have a mixed bag of politics on here but it would be nice to have some clear values and objectives from the person most likely to be our next MP.

Looking at her tweet announcing her success and it was full of people saying how nice it was having someone to carry on Lefroy's overseas development work. absolutely stuff all about local issues....I wasn't that surprised....

I always found it interesting that to be a councillor you need to have lived or worked in an area for two years, but to be an MP you just need to have the support of the party leadership.

How much has it changed?

I recall voting for David Kidney back in 1997 (last time I voted in the UK). He seemed pretty decent.

Enjoying a drop of red.

So decent he denied there was a problem at the hospital and said they should improve their recycling targets.

Great chap.

Yeah, he was alright really - though ^as you can see, unforgiven in some quarters - don't know how significant the Hospital scandal was in his downfall ultimately, but suspect it was reasonably substantial.

As Presuming Ed has consistently pointed out, Jeremy TheFrog, since winning the seat, has increased his majority at every subsequent election.

Everybody voted against the Tories in '97, Stafford just returned to type.

But remember, it wasn't only racists that voted for Brexit, c**ts did as well...

That's true. At the time I was a member of the Conservative Party. And I wasn't willing to vote for them.

I think Aitken was the final straw. Wittering on about the sword and shield of justice while getting his wife and daughter to commit perjury.

Thinking about it Cameron (who stood against Kidney) had a remarkably short political career.

I remember long long ago when I worked on the Staffordshire Advertiser talking to Lady Antonia Fraser, at that time the wife of Stafford's MP Hugh Fraser. She seemed a very pleasant lady .. (some years later I read one of her books, a fearsome biography of Oliver Cromwell.) I believe eventually she ran off with playwright Harold Pinter, and I have to say, she went up another 10 points in my opinion when that happened.
I'll give Stafford its due on Tory MP's. Boy could they pick em.
