It was the Village Awards ceremony this afternoon where medals are given out.
I won an award for being a "jammy devil" making 85 pots of jam and also keeping the village supplied with cakes.
It's not exactly the Oscars, just a bit of village fun.

Saw a nice nest of coffee tables in a shop that we could have bought for sons house today, reduced for a quick sale... Also thought of buying some for ourselves as well . Would have been perfect if we could have bunged them in the car and brought them home there and then and taken sons down when I go to visit on Wednesday....But no, :ohno:couldn't just buy and take them , had to order them and pay delivery which then bumped the price back up to original price and then had to wait over a week for delivery. Looks like off to Ikea instead on my way down to Worcester!

Which shop is that? Seems like a rather terrible way to do business really

I wonder if it's the same shop where we bought a load of bedroom furniture only to find that delivery took a lot longer than was suggested, with one piece taking a couple of months longer than the rest.

Not the one where HMV once was by any chance?

Interesting that I got it in one. Just something about that place makes me think it would be like that.

@staffordjas same with you? Place where HMV is?
@Cue it wasn't the old HMV place we went the other day, but glad that has been mentioned . Thought about it a few months ago when looking to buy sons lounge furniture.Tried ringing them before driving down there, to ask questions about stock and delivery etc...... Gave up trying after several attempts and phone not being answered. Thought about any problems afterwards, if we couldn't get in touch with them..Seeing these posts, glad we didn't bother with them in the end.

This was Oak furniture land yesterday. They could have made a quick £300+ out of us in a few minutes, but....their loss.

(We did actually buy sons sofa & chairs a bit ago from Oak Furnitureland in Worcester, and pleased with them and 7 day delivery was good. They were very hard sell trying to get us to purchase the extra insurance, cleaning kits etc but soon gave up when we firmly declined spending a few extra hundred quid on top ! First question yesterday, when we mentioned son already had the sofa and love chair displayed in their window was...." Did he purchase the cleaning kit + insurance as well?")

Had a similar situation with a local car dealer last year buying a pre registered car they tried to sell us the Diamondbrite paint protection at £600 basically some posh polish and a £30 bag of shampoo, polish etc.

We obviously declined but as the deal was almost done they threw us the opportunity of £2k on two years interest free credit, a no brainer really but when we were signing up the paperwork they had included the Diamondbrite in the small print on the credit. Sneaky.

Very sneaky, and something they could get in trouble for...

Just had memories of my old school dinners and my favourite pud brought back to me , seeing Chocolate Concrete and Mint Sauce advertised on 'Spotted'.

Feeling rather ancient after watching last nights episode of The Circle. The new cat-fish 62 year 'old lady' granny is younger than me :o , and comment that people that age drink sherry etc :o .....no that was my parents and grans that did that !

Must say though, the comments that old people talk strange and old fashioned......when I'm with son and his friends it's like a foreign language. Have to keep asking him what so many words mean  . At least I'm only half old fashioned now, having learnt quite a lot of the youngsters 'Speak' ..

We made school cake a while back. The sponge slab with a layer of icing and some sprinkles on top.

My favourite, however, was always butterscotch tart.

Problem today with porridge on the train track. Grandson managed to add his breakfast to his wooden railway set. Using his toy diggers to clear the way did not help.

Just seen a Peugeot 206 pulled over by the Police. No tax on it so it's been towed away.
Tax ran out a month ago. Mot till March 2020.
