I seem to remember when I was desperately trying to pull a ton on Beaconside back in the day that the prospect of pushing that road across toward Baswich had been on the cards for years. They connected it up to Redhill, but it seemed to just peter out on the Weston Road. The plan had been to get it to the M6 junction (knock down Baswich, Weeping Cross and Acton Trussel, maybe take out Milford, Brocton and Bednall just for a laugh :heyhey:) thereby giving you a full eastern by-pass. :raise:

Ah, the good old "Eastern Distributor Route". It's been planned for as long as I can remember. I can remember when Beaconside ended with a big drop at the Marston Road junction. When they extended it to Weston Road the plan was for it to run all the way through to junction 13 at Acton Gate.
I wonder how many new houses by the Crem will be compulsorily purchased when they decide to finish the route.

It may have moved on by now but at 5am Town was at gridlock due to problems between 13 and 14 Northbound. So potentially main routes between junctions were at standstill.

Stafford roads -

' ... misshapen carriageways, the result of years of "economical" maintenance by periodic tar spraying, their outworn surfaces continually breaking up and producing dangerous pot-holes ...'

'To the deficiencies of layout and lack of functional planning must be added many defects in details and construction'

So much has changed since 1947/48, hasn't it?

Roads management techniques handed down from grandfather to father to son, ad infinitum.

It was closed overnight between 13-14 northbound on Wednesday night. Signs saying queues to get off right back to J12 as I came up about 11pm so lots doing like I did and got off at J11. So quite busy with lorries through Cannock and down Cannock road into Stafford. From the signs looked like could happen again for the roadworks on other nights.

Tailbacks all the way from the County Showground to Cull Avenue Northbound. Free parking on the Weston Road Carpark if anyone is interested.

It’s so bad that despite living on the Weston Road side of Kingston Hill it was quicker to drive towards town, turn down Cull Av, drive up to Blackheath Lane and get to the Co-op on the Business Park that way. Beaconside is pretty bad too

basil

don't mention the blinds
So all white marks have been burned from the Newport road approach to station road, one can only surmise that the divergence is to be elongated......

I'm quite excited about the new version of the railway bridge - i'm almost sure they'll f**k it up again somehow and leave us stewing in the juices for another few weeks.

It's been fun so far, what?
