Rugby Club progress...

With both thumbs in a rather comically large amount of plaster, for a few brief weeks he was able to give the most enthusiastic double-thumbs-up in Stafford.

Looks like he has maintained the enthusiasm without the thumbs to back up his bluster.

It is possible that this is a completely different Barry Fuggle, and i admit i haven't exactly performed due diligence to ensure it isn't so, but it's not massively likely is it?

Both thumbs.

Residents from Virginia Park and Castletown were invited to a welcome meeting, tonight. A free drink voucher and a bite to eat, plus a tour of the facility and an open Q & A that raised a number of forthright views.
My thoughts?
Amazing facility.
Gives the town a different option for socialising as well as room hire, though not massive.
Club status obviously gains you riches, as does having Lord Stafford involved - Observation, not a criticism.
Straight questions brought some straight answers and offers of meeting up to talk about things as well as working through problems with the residents association.
There are still some snagging issues to be dealt with and they have promised to do that.
Personally think they need some bigger signage, especially going into winter and dark nights.

Positives outweigh the negatives as they can be fixed. If I get parking issues where I live, on Sundays, I know what route to take to address it. I also now know where I can go to watch rugby or football in less than ten minutes! 18 screens throughout the bars and different rooms.

There is literally nothing they can do to un-snag the fact of their being.

It will disrupt an urban oasis - testimony was forthcoming from the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, that was given backing from the Bio-Diversity Officer of Stafford Borough Council, to that effect.

Let them do what they will, and think what they will, about the works that they do, but it will be known to those that know, that it will be ipso facto detrimental to that environment.

They will have to live with that when Nature breaks both of their thumbs, Barry...

I tell you what, instead of "keyboard warrioring", I got out there and spoke to people. Confronted Martin Lennon with straight questioning, attended residents meetings to find updates and went on the tour to see for myself. Yes, a load of green space has been replaced by, er, a load of green space that won't have a great bloody road put through it. How many have considered how many thousand youngsters are going to be out in the open air playing sports rather than on the streets? I hadn't realised the enormity of that til I was stood in the place. The residents in the area that have to live with it also have mechanisms in place for things they aren't happy with.
Earlier on in this thread I challenged the green effect and all that goes with it. The club will now be under the microscope for all they promised. It's an open public club. Go and have a look!

Is it 'open public', as in anyone can park there for free, unload brats, then start playing footie, rugger, frisbee, etc on the hallowed plastic turf?
