A charge was registered against the companies assets on Friday. I can't pretend to know a lot about this, but it suggests they might be in a bit of money trouble.

A charge registered against the company usually means that they have taken out a loan or mortgage, using the business as a guarantee, not that they are in financial trouble.

post Lewis, it was total crap.
As are most things, notably the swan and the town center partnership which is now a shadow of its former self, the amount of hard work and commitment put in by Chris Lewis and Lisa Clemson has never sadly been matched and the decline has been sad to witness.

The Swan, as a place to eat, is perfectly fine.

Really? Crikey how easy we forget.

The Swan at thr end.of the Lewis Partnership was awful, the furniturre as tatty, cleanliness was missing as were the staff, food standards dropped and the place was empty at weekends.

I would say the complete opposite to that now. As good as the peak times in Lewis Partnership, maybe not, but a darn site better and busier than in LPs last 2 years of ownership

I was surprised to read this as it appeared to be doing ok but looking on trip advisor they have had some shocking reviews recently, mostly relating to staff attitude and poor quality food, so I guess all was not as well as it seemed.

i agree, fair enough the LP had some fantastic venues at their peak but they did seem to let them go downhill, and why do they keep selling/giving them up? Bear grill, swan, now giving up the Bank House in Hixon after only a couple of years.
Surely if they were profitable businesses you would want to keep them??

It's probably also worth remembering that Chris Lewis is a complete c*nt (in my opinion, of course)*

When one thinks of these things.

I've only been to the Bear twice in the last 18 months and both times been impressed.

I went on a remembrance day last year for a meal and drink. They gave me and someone I was with a free pint because we were former serving member of the armed services. Thumbs up. And I went last Saturday evening and watched a very good band.

never had much of an issue in there, food had a bit of a nose dive but recovered well.

I had noticed that the "manager" was no where to be seen in recent weeks as well....possibly one reason why it was closed by the brewery?
