Just checked my bank account to make sure that I have been correctly charged for using the Dartford crossing at the weekend and didn't realise I'd actually been to Ireland and not Kent.

I don't even recall using the Dublin Area Rapid Transit, must have been some weekend :)

I'd never heard of The Dart until I exchanged my paperback when I finished it on holiday for one left by an Irish guest.
That was about The Dart Line. ( Glad you put what it stands for...that wasn't mentioned at all in the book. )

Found myself on the Stoke campus of Staffs Uni yesterday. As someone who graduated back when the Stafford campus existed I’m of two minds.

The facilities available are fantastic. So much more than we had available to us. VR Labs, green screen rooms, 3D printers, scanners, laser cutters, all sorts of fun toys that I’d have loved when I was studying.

But it just feels a little... off. A lot of the feel that Stafford campus has seems to have gone, it feels quite cramped and like management just had to ram everything in where they can. Not to detract from the efforts of departments and lecturers of course, they’ve done a fantastic job.

It’s a real shame to be honest. There was nothing wrong with the Stafford campus, but they closed it anyway, forced a load of staff to commute or move to Stoke, and ruined the feeling that Stafford campus had - you knew everyone, everyone was like-minded STEM folk and it didn’t feel like a bunch of tower blocks smacked together. Plus the benefits of not being in Stoke... in Stafford it wasn’t terribly unusual to see a laptop in bits on a table in a public space (that... may have been me) and you could leave things unattended without much worry at all.

Sounds like their intake year on year is getting bigger and bigger too. At some point they’ll run out of buildings to buy presumably (or carparks to build on...)

(For the record I’ve never heard a bad word about the lecturers, everything that’s wrong is purely down to those at the top of the food chain)

Realise now why some BT engineers sit there for ages in their vans, seemingly doing nothing. The ones trying to sort my neighbour out have been standing outside the house , with the phone on loud speaker all the time it's took me to shampoo my carpets , and still standing listening to a repeated "Sorry for the long wait, we will be with you as soon as possible....." Would have thought they'd have had a seperate direct line to their bosses!

I came past the Four Crosses last night, Marston Road side as it is still closed on Sandon Road, anyway, without failure every single day since the smoking ban was introduced, rain or shine, in the doorway there has been a smoker, not outside, in the door way. Consistently. Is it anyones regular pub on here?

Why would you be a regular in there??

And if the yokels want to smoke in the doorway, I ain't going to argue with them, are you?

We were going swimming in Chasewater this morning. Looks like we'd have to swim to get there though, all routes out of the village are completely flooded.

:o

Cannock road just before Wildwood pub junction is flooded half way over as well (going towards Cannock direction).

Just dropped hubby off for the Baggies coach at the Chetwyn Arms. Nearly witnessed an accident right in front of me at Brocton Crossroads on the way back.:o Both the drivers chancing it across at the same time luckily managed to stop inches from each other in the middle of the road.

Thought I was going to need the 'Heart start ' skills before I had actually been on tomorrows session to learn them..... Made me even more determined to get myself through those doors for the session tomorrow now , even though I'm a big scaredy cat going on my own.

  • With massive queue at Casa taxi rank and no taxis arriving
  • No taxis available for 2 hours when phoning for one..
  • Jumped on Cannock bus to find out it only goes as far as Silkmore lane and then turns right and goes around Penkridge....
  • Hubby then strides off and leaves me behind as I struggle to get off bus...
Eventually get home safe after walking from Silkmore to Wildwood on own.

One good night ruined, all because hes annoyed at me going on first aid session tomorrow!

Went for a walk round the extended boating lake this evening with the youngest. Loads of cars stranded.
Saw a few people coming out of the dump on the corner, also saw yet another of their cars parked up my arse, on double yellows and a disabled drop kerb.
1 woman drove round and round trying to find another exit from the car park, eventually giving up and dumping her BMW and going home with her mate in a 4x4. Shame the rain hasn't stopped that bloody generator,

Where will it all end?

The North Sea, after a night out in Stoke, Nottingham and then Hull?

Maybe The South End Club?

Riots outside Casa because the taxi drivers prefer sober rain stranded train passengers to local pisheads?

Lovely day for it

Aaaaaah! That explains why a stranger with a suitcase was asking us where the taxi ranks were in town, and big queues of train passengers waiting for non existent taxis as they were going on longer journeys. (We nearly caused a riot by going to the front of the queue thinking it was the end, as last time we caught one from there the queue went the other way! They wouldn't believe us that we had made a mistake and weren't deliberately trying to jump the queue  )

Due to various events that have happened today, it now looks like we can’t go to tonight’s show at The Gatehouse to see James Acaster.

I’m selling the tickets if anyone is interested.
The show has been sold out for months. (£38 for 2 tickets)
Row L 7 and 8 aisle seats.

Apologies for the duplicate post but I’ve only got a few hours to sell the tickets!
