Rugby Club progress...

Thanks for your note @Jonah, it’s appreciated.
A veiled threat couldn’t be further from the truth. I am always up for discussing situations to make the best of them. We move in, we invite all the residents in for food, a drink and Q&A session, we attend the local residents meeting......all with an open view to discuss a positive way forward - people that know me certainly wouldn’t describe me as threatening. Someone suggests we engage with Staffs Wildlife Trust, great idea, meeting arranged. Trust me, we are trying.
Your opinion obviously differs from mine regarding the success or failure of the move - I hope we prove people wrong, we come in peace as they say

You seem to be missing the point somewhat. It is not the rugby club or its members that are the problem, it is the location.

You cannot undo the damage that has already been done to the habitat.

I for one don't really care about your human neighbours but I do care about the wildlife that your establishment has threatened.

The written word is interpreted in the way the reader sees it.
I think that's why smilies were invented. Subtlety and nuance doesn't always come over when it's just the written word, especially when the discussion is somewhat "adversarial".

(and me! - Ed)
Let me say from the outset, and start my post with this:- I was against the building of this, and could not believe the protracted nature of the planning applications. I didn't follow them closely, but was surprised that permission was granted, despite loads of well founded objections! but probably shouldn't have been!

We are where we are, I found myself visiting it t'other day, running with the dog. I was not tempted to encourage her to sh't on the pitch, as I said "'we are where we are", and having been the victim of slipping into a deposit, when I played I would hate anyone to befall such a fate! :barf:

Let me say at the outset, it is scarily close to the centre of the Doxey reserve, over looking it from a raised position. I hope there is some restriction on the times flood lights are used. As a winter sport, these are bound to have a significant effect on the avian inhabitants of the Marshes and other wildlife. But from a totally, sport facility viewpoint, it is impressive! 5 pitches, I think; one of them the latest 4G. I also saw a movable soccer goal post, which suggests other sport usage. The grass was certainly not waterlogged, despite the precipitation we have had recently. Having played on relayed pitches, this indicates the protracted time allowed for the pitch to bed in was sensible. I believe other sports are already using the facility, particularly the club, I do worry that the entrance road, Blackberry Lane? is narrow, particularly when if you have coaches coming down it. But the car park is certainly expansive. So I am impressed, just a shame it couldn't have been built somewhere else!

As I continued on home, I ran past the old clubhouse. There was a Bobby in a high viz, outside the back door standing next to police van, partially blocking the lane, I asked if I was ok to continue; he said yes. As I ran past the club I encountered three more coppers with full riot gear, helmets and shields! I didn't ask, to be quite honest, there clothing,, demeanour and a couple of rapid Alsatians in another fan, sped me on my way! Well, good to see that the club is being used, whether that be toerags after scrap, or squatters! ;)

Indeed.

We're training tonight, 8:00 to 10:00 in Edgbaston. Below is from Saturday where it rained pretty heavily for the duration of the game.

Looked like a really good game, two good sides, lots of rain, nothing got flooded, definitely not Birmingham Uni’s fault.....xx

I rode past it last week and viewing from afar from the Isabel Trail, and without getting up close and personal, i only saw it for what it is, and that is an absolute disaster.

Natural England has quite obviously been bought off to temper their objection to this absolute feck up.

Ok MillieD I apologise if I appeared a little insensitive at your expense. Can I redeem myself with a practical suggestion ?

Why not get any other neighbours, similarly affected by light spill, to sign a petition to present to the club asking for financial assistance for the fitting of supplementary bedroom blackout blinds. You could even raise awareness with a staged photo in the local press depicting yourself and assembled neighbours outside at night wearing dressings gowns and dark glasses looking skywards and shaking fists at the lights (?)
