Please can you comment or indicate your agreement for the join up of SCC and SBC - to save bringing in charges for rubbish collection.
Just think of the savings - less ineffective work on behalf of the residents of Stafford(shire) in terms of local planning.
May we suggest we save a few pounds by giving p45s to the planning team - and transfer this responsibility to a local primary school. Just think of the improved traffic flows.
There was an independent report while back which recommended that a new shopping centre would not be helpful to the heart of Stafford which now consists of vaping shops and tattoo parlours.
We might save some of our heritage.
Particuarly the massive spending on Victoria Park to close down a successful local cafe and bring in a national chain to run it. A few backhanders probably.
When is the new kebab shop moving into the Stafford Town Hall. Have we been successful with a hapless bid for a new museum when we have historic building left empty.
Then to cap it all - with the council having no Business rates to speak off - let’s agree to any planning request from a developer - might be a few quid in the council tax.
I would not normally comment but they would give a China a run for their money in terms of depletion of the ozone layer - probably Stafford can be seen from space with the amount carbon emissions
It's really very difficult to know where to start with this post. The temptation is to just dismiss it as utter nonsense and leave it at that because, well life is too short.
However, let's look at it a bit further.
1. Why would merging the two councils stop the charges for brown bins. Can you point to somewhere where someone from SBC or SCC says this?
2. Less ineffective work for residents after a merger. How on earth do you manage to get to that conclusion. Firstly, it's debatable whether, over all, both councils are ineffective, compared to other councils the length and breadth of the country. Second, the bits that are ineffective would not suddenly become effective as a result of a merger, how could they. It'll still be the same people in charge. Let's take Highways. How would a merger of the two councils improve that? Please tell us, I can't wait to here the answer.
3. How will merging the two councils save our heritage? It's already gone and did so in the 70s and 80s. Or will this merger also enable the invention of time travel?
4. To say that the cafe (it wasn't a cafe actually, it was an ice cream shop) was in any way successful, fit for purpose or run in a remotely competent way, is so divorced from what the reality actually was as to be beyond laughable.
5. The 'massive' spending in Victoria Park is in fact very modest. It should result, if done properly, in a substantial improvement for park users without detracting from the character of the park as it was. People moaned about the money spent on the kids play areas in the park but look how successful they turned out to be. A top class amenity for the town.
6. Please tell me where the town hall is as I was not aware we had one in Stafford.
7. Business rates go to central government, not local. How will a merger change that?
8. Comparing Stafford to China is just plain blizzard.
To sum up, there's no shortage of bizarre, utter bollocks been posted on this forum over the years so I congratulate you on making it straight into the top 5.
Now I'd suggest you go for a bracing walk over Cannock Chase and see if a bit of fresh air can't put things into some sort of perspective for you.
