Stafford Traffic.

When I driving up to Stafford from the southwest I always dread that last bit on the M6. One time I got off the M5 near Worcester and went a roundabout route via Bridgnorth, Telford, Donnington (where I used to work for a while at the MOD site so I knew that road fairly well) coming into Stafford on the Newport Road. Took a little longer, but not that much, and was a much more interesting drive.
The main problem was the fräulein in the Satnav who threw a total wobbler.

My phone satnav started speaking in Spanish for some reason on the way down to Poole last summer, just as it had suggested a diversion to avoid an accident.Had to stick to the queues in the main route afterall , which the Tom Tom was sticking to, as my limited spanish of being able to order the beers and ask for the loos wasn't much use drivng off into the unknown country lanes.

All you need in Spain though.

Well, that was a great idea - moving an oversized fabrication up Weston Road and Beaconside, at the peak of the 'rush' hour, in the dark, trying to miss all the kerbside street furniture and the (stationary) oncoming traffic...

Seriously? I tried to get into the Crossings at 2pm when the transporter arrived and when we came back later in the afternoon I did say to the wife "they can be moving that off site" as it was loaded up at the gate.... Craziness

Oh I got caught in that. It blocked the riverway / Weston road junction at 5pm. Nice engineering, terrible timing

It was absurd. Ambulances stuck in it - utter chaos.

Bloody ridiculous traffic on the road past the B&Q / Argos retail park. Heard about 45 minute queues to get off the car park last week , but thought that might have been an exaggeration........ turned into it today to find queues tailing all around the carpark and every row to get back out. Too late then....no way back out without queuing for absolutely ages . Not going shopping there in the car again!

I know it's not much consolation, but I dropped the missus off at the Station this morning at 10:00 and called in at Argos on the way back to Baswich, and everything was fine - an unexpectedly quick journey. And Queens wasn't too bad about 45 minutes ago (16:00). A bit of a queue to come out, but nothing more than you'd expect.

I planned to pop to Aldi to pick up some supplies am hour ago but turned around on the crossings roundabout and walked up to home Bargains. I think that's the third Saturday on the trot the traffic has clogged up.... But no worries as staffs council traffic doesnt think there's any problem in the area!!

We went to Queens retail park first, and there were loads of parking spaces left and no queue to come out at all. If I'd have been on my own I would have left the car there and walked over the bridge to B&Q , but hubby insisted we drove .... so he couldn't moan too much as it was his fault we got stuck !

Unbelievably , when we turned out of Wildwood on the way down, there wasn't a car in sight on the Cannock road in either direction. Rather strange feeling driving down a deserted road on a Saturday afternoon

the issue seems to be when the traffic lights at riverway / Lichfield road junction are green for traffic exiting the retail park Lichfield road heading into town is stationary so only 1 left turn vehicle can exit before the lights turn red again. Can only see it getting worse in the run-up to Christmas.

Went down town well before 10am this morning to miss the traffic. Fine everywhere , except for the 4 way temporary lights at Riverway/Lichfield Rd junction causing big queues again even with lighter traffic at that time. Came back via Fairway and St Leonards instead later!

Does anyone know if J13 southbound entry slip road has any overnight closures at the moment ? Planning to jump on there at 5.30am tomorrow to get hubby to the airport (Then once I've dropped him off, it's off to Worcester to spend, spend ,spend while he's working in Germany :D )
