2019 General Election

It's rather telling if you are ashamed of who you voted for, then there is a problem with who you voted for.

I'm pretty ashamed of who I voted for. And not ashamed to say so.

I voted Labour because whilst I disagree with pretty much all of his policies (his works and benefits threats would have bought the country to it's knees by themselves), I was sure that they would never get a majority and therefore most of his threats would never make it into law - or at least a watered down version.

As a capitalist I couldn't even vote for Boris as his bumbling act just hides a frightening amount of arrogance and power hunger.

Green would have been a waste.

I've never before stood in the polling booth and not known who to vote for literally until my pencil touched the paper. Bloody useless bunch.

BUT, as we are now here I hope that the good stuff that was promised during the electioneering will come to fruition and we leave the EU in the best way possible. The currency rates improving just at the hope of some certainty was an obvious indication of the way the markets hate uncertainty.

I've purchased a load of dollars today for my holiday next April - looks like the pounds on the fall again given the likelihood of a no deal Brexit increasing.

Bit late now. But you can bet a few made a fortune on the dramatic currency fluctuations... which come on, is good news for Cayman Island banks.

A typical comment in the last couple of elections from Corbynites. I'm interested to know how many of these people you all target heard stuff like that directed at them and then thought 'you know what, think I'll vote Labour instead now'.

Good idea. I was tempted to give the missus a load of Euros for Christmas as our current stock is a bit depleted. (In the end I treated myself by buying something downloadable, priced in dollar$.)

The first time I heard the phrase "thick as mince" was when it was applied to Corbyn .... and by Labour sympathisers. And I've since heard it applied to Burgon as well, for whom it seems slightly more applicable. Anyway, enjoy ....

I expect there's a "Der Untergang" or two being edited even as I type.

Zac Goldsmith, what a story.

Son of a humble billionaire

At 23, made editor of a magazine ( owned by his uncle )

Gets given a Conservative safe seat at 32.

Loses it ( twice )

Loses London Mayor race

Elevated to the House of Lords

Truly the inspirational work of a self-made Conservative

Congratulations to all concerned

It sounds like the American dream to me. :grr:

Maybe we should align ourselves accordingly … after all …. the title '51st State' is up for grabs. If nothing else we'd be able to buy a gun in B & M. :gonk:

Please allow us "shy Tories" a few days at least of smugness and gloating...
A few days?

You've held the floor for almost ten years.

Or did we forget that?

I have a lot of time for you @Mikinton but i was talking more of the "shy Tories" that emerged like a Locust swarm in the aftermath of the General Election and behaved like one.

Shy they were not.

Your Boy paints himself into more of a conical-shaped corner as the days go by.

I'd also like to reiterate at this point that i am not, and never have been, a Labour activist.

What i am, and will always be, is an anti-Tory.

I have voted in every election that i have been eligible to vote in against the prospective Tory candidate.

I have never voted anyone in to anything.

I have never let anyone in by not voting.

I also voted for Proportional Representation, in the form of AV, when i was given the chance.

You are all literally pieces of shit.

Unless and until you tell me i am not.

My first ever vote was for something, I voted Labour in 97. Since then I've also always voted against blue, usually that has meant red but not always. I can't remember if I drew a cock for a local election or a national one though?

Over " quite a few" General & Local Elections I've voted for just about every party. This was the very first time I felt I couldn't really support any of the main parties. I considered spoiling my paper (EVERYONE should excersice their right to vote) but in the end I voted for the Greens (first time ever) based purely on the fact that she was at least local & I thought I'd do my bit to try to save her losing her deposit. Unfortunately even that didn't achieve anything either. It shows the state of "politics" when that's the only factor that separated the candidates IMO.
