Broken my new years diet and about to break my new years resolution ........I'm pretty sure a sparkling glass of cider (or 2 or 5..) will ease my sore throat and help me sleep better than Beechams . Got to raise a glass to celebrate sons birthday as well , even though he's miles away and out celebrating with his friends..... think that's a good enough excuse

I thought that “Netflix and chill” meant relaxing on the sofa watching a movie.

I found out yesterday that it means something completely different.

This also happened to our head of sixth form - when the exams started she emailed all students wishing them the best of luck, to work hard and enjoy 'Netflix and chill' over the summer before uni starts!

She was then informed what it actually meant and had to send out a letter of apology to all parents...

Like you @Carole, I used to think it meant that. I only found out when someone was corrected for saying it on an episode of Corrie, and I then asked son what it meant

My wife used to send the aubergine emoji out in messages when talking about food as she thought it indicated an aubergine.

To give you an example, I once traded on the Venezualon coast for quite a long trip and then received a message to say a female radio officer was being sent out to replace me and I was finally going home.
When asked in the ship's bar what I thought about this I replied (without thinking) "I don't really know, I've never been relieved by a woman before."
I took some shit on that one I can tell you. :heyhey:

I just had Google that, totally the opposite of what I thought it meant too.
I've just had to Google aubergine emoji :embarrass::o:lol:

Hate think what adds are going to pop up on my phone now....

( After innocently googling Japanese crumpets a while back, and my laptop having a fit, I now keep being bombarded with adds on my phone for ' Meet Asian women' dating sites:o )

I don't believe any of this from any of you! @staffordjas @Glam & @Carole are you all living under rocks... how can you not know this when you are all computer literate? :lorks:

To be fair I had no idea about the aubergine or the Netflix thingy until this thread.

We had pampas grass in the front garden when we bought our current home. I knew nothing about that either until, given our location, we learned the hard way...

I honestly thought it meant watch a film and relax.
Computer literate yes, but never use emoji or Netflix
We don't have Netflix.

My boss has a load of pampas grass in her front garden, she was quite shocked when I told her what it symbolised. Not sure if she's dug it up now.
