The old Jobcentre.

Did you read the letter posted by cottontop? The council class it as A2 not B1a as the developers are claiming, so they need to submit a planning application for change of usage. It seems the council deem the old job centre as providing a professional service to the town.

I'm a councillor, i don't read other people's stuff

I can barely write my own

Greyfriars House, Greyfriars, Stafford

  • Residential conversion possibility
  • Car parking for 74 vehicles
  • Fronting the A34
  • Stafford town center one mile distant
  • Junction 14, M6 Motorway, two miles distant
  • Close to amenities
  • Offers to be submitted by the 28th September 2018
The property is prominently situated on the west side of the A34 Foregate Street at its junction with Greyfriars Place and close to its junctions with the A34 Stone Road and the A5013 Eccleshall Road leading directly to Junction 14 of the M6 Motorway about two miles distant.
The M6 provides access to Manchester and the north-west, London and the south-east by way of the M1 link and Bristol and the south-west through its connection with the M5. The town center is approximately one mile to the south where Stafford's mainline station provides Intercity connections throughout the national rail network.
Greyfriars House comprises a substantial three-storey building constructed on stilts originally providing a mixture of open-plan and cellular office accommodation on the first, second and third floors with access through a ground floor reception area.
The property has been extensively vandalized but is nevertheless considered to present an ideal opportunity for residential conversion subject to any planning considered that might be required

Chico’s. Because it didn’t look like an abandoned mess

They probably filled out the wrong form - for a Port & Cheese restaurant not a Portuguese restaurant - someone had to stay an extra 5 mins at the office as a result

Seems another fire has been started there, what a waste of resources.

I didn't think work had started in here, but walked past the other day and all the lights on the top floor were on , a few days later there seemed to be Christmas lights in one of the rooms.

So either, there's now a live in security guard, and works started, or unfortunately someone's living there at Christmas time.

Mmm, I glanced at this thread whilst trying to find the original for the resurgent petrol station project.

It occurred to me that having a building on stilts with Stafford's recent flooding history could be seen as quite an advantage.

Wetherspoons..?

Pass it regularly in the car, I reckon that the "Under Offer" sign has been displayed for over a year!
Mummm... How long does it take to sort an offer out?

Another one to blame on the pandemic! :strange:

Seems strange to construct new businesses Infront of the backdrop of the old job centre. Hopefully that'll be redeveloped next.
