There is a road closure warning on Sandon Road, presumably for the new housing units on the old Sandon Road Motors site.

It is scheduled to run from Feb 17th, for a few days, possibly to the 20th..?

With HS2 being given the go ahead tomorrow and work going to start imminently, especially as Birmingham to Crewe now being lumped into the 1st stage of the project and likely to be finished by 2028 approx, how will this impact upon Stafford's already gridlocked traffic network and roadworks? Especially around Yarlet Bank and continuing M6 smart motorway works and Greyfriars Place mini-bypass?

So, we've had road sweeper trundling up and down Sandon Road today, trying to remove most* of the loose gravel that has piled up at the sides of the road.
Maybe they're going to try to glue some of it back onto the skid-pans?
Or, maybe not.
* Except where parked cars were obstructing it and whatever proportion it knocked into the drains..
More hoovering going on today.

Maybe we'll eventually get back to the decent surface that we had before the 'repair'?

An electronic information sign has appeared at the end of Greyfriars before the roundabout advising that there will be approximately 20 weeks of roadworks (gas) taking place nearby from the 17th Feb.

Nothing is mentioned on the Roadworks website on Stone Road or Eccleshall Road though.

Depending on exactly where the gas works are going to take place, this means either the recently tarmacked roundabout is going to be dug up again, or the recently surface dressed A34 &/or Eccleshall Road will be undressed for the gas works. Traffic lights will likely to be used. As per usual, Alliance Street will be an excellent obvious short-cut to avoid the queueing on either of the two main roads.

I guess the erection of the large digital signage rather than a puny metal sign, warning drivers of these upcoming works, means there will certainly be massive delays.
