Been on a cruise to Key West/Mexican Riviera/Caribbean.
We we’re due to fly home on Sunday night but the aircraft that was due to take us home couldn’t leave London due to the storm so we were stuck in Miami for an extra 24hours.
Just landed back this morning.
Oh my goodness, it’s SO cold!

Just been watching The One Show where they were talking about how it’s been 30 years since the release from prison of Nelson Mandela.
It reminded me of the time that I met him, shortly after his release.
I was working for BA at the time.
That’s me on the left.

It seems that for years we've had storms, blizzards, high winds etc and maybe once or twice a year there'd be something of sufficient magnitude somewhere in the world to warrant being given a name.
Now it seems every time the wind blows and there's a blip in the weather patterns it's given a name.

Well it's a choice between saying:

"We have a significantly large North Atlantic depression moving toward us that will bring considerable precipitation and winds well in excess of Beaufort wind scale force 8."

or

"Storm Fred approaches."

That's because you're actually blowing out of your arse, and seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that we are actually in the middle of a crisis.

Have you not noticed that the 'storms, blizzards, high winds etc' are now exactly not just yearly events? We are expecting another extreme weather event this coming weekend, after experiencing one just last weekend.

In Yorkshire and Lancashire we have towns that are experiencing 'once in every one hundred years' flooding events again this year.

Pretend it's not anything out of the ordinary as much as you want, but that won't make you any less wrong.

Now it seems that every time the wind blows, you are talking out of your arse.

Perhaps that is why you chose the name @Trumpet ?

It could be a Good Omen that Pestilence might have been replaced by Pollution

Can't help but think Pestilence should stay. But Pollution definitely deserves a ride … maybe Death could go because it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that that's were all the others are headed anyway. (That's where we're all headed regardless …)

It brings to mind the Cold War and the possibility of Nuclear Apocalypse. Seems small beer compared to vast forces of nature we're playing with now.

I'm minded of T. S. Eliot:

"This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang, but a whimper."

(Right, that's enough 'half empty glass' stuff. I'll put some 'half full glass' stuff in as a counter balance.)

"Death smiles at us all.
All a man can do is smile back."

Marcus Aurelius

(Mmmm ... maybe I should get in a new glass ... :heyhey:)
