A mate tried to sell me a 2.0 Golf GTI, the insurance and fuel economy alone would cost me £1500 a year on my commute!

yea , you dont need something like that in your first few years.
get you no claims up first, then the worlds your oyster.
....besides , those sort of cars if not reasonably new have had the engine thrashed out over time and wont be worth the insurance premium needed.

Wish I actually had a spare in our car! Only got a can of something to spray into the knackered tyre. So far ( fingers crossed) never had to use it.

I'm currently driving a Ford Fiesta on one of these lease deals, which is coming to an end. I too noted there was no spare, just a 'tyre repair kit.' I went on Ebay straight away and bought a spare wheel complete with good tyre (although I later found out there was no pressure sensor in it, but, that's not a bother if it's just to get me home.) The spare fitted comfortably in the boot so I'm stunned at this 'tyre repair kit' scam (and I think it is just a cheapo scam.)
Will be changing this car shortly and am hovering about over a Honda Jazz or the like. This means the lease suppliers will get their car back with a spare … cheeky bastards.

Mines an older one , but its seen off many newer cars around here ;)

Well I prefer a small car. I drove a 3 litre Volvo Estate for 12 years previously which was a great car, but you needed your own personal oil well in the back garden. I'm looking at the new models of the Jazz and I have to say they look very impressive.

When i passed my test in 196something, I got in a bedford van and have driven vans ever since, there is NO car that can compete with the pleasure of driving from a high position and looking down on the piddly little cars (cue the anger from all car drivers:grr:) and now I even have a bit of power to overtake with my newish van, I can't wait for the summer, to be out and enjoying the camping and driving to wales etc.

Not necessarily, you just need to be careful when you're buying. Same with all cars.

Nice easy drive town to Olympia this morning, amazingly. Now starts another six days of staring at concrete walls at night and bright lights during the day.

I changed a wheel on a Fiesta for someone once. Some bright spark at Ford had decided to hang it underneath, presumably so that you could get at it without having to empty the boot. But, you still needed to empty the boot to get at the bolt that held it up anyway. This bolt was, of course, seized, and it took a good while to finally drop the (filthy and corroded) wheel down.

She then took the punctured wheel to be fixed. They put it back underneath.

It fell off on the way home, as the thread on the bolt was totally buggered by that point.

This is what you find, when you check on the spare in my trusty Getz. A rather more savoury prospect.

The spare wheel on Percy the Perverted Puma was underneath, thankfull I never had to use it.

Ahh , now I get it.
I seem to have offended some Ford owners by that comment I made.

I'll try not to lose any sleep over it though.
Had a 1.8 V6 LHD German mk1 two door Granada years ago, not the fastback Granada Ghia we had ever here, it was a short wheelbase version of the GB market saloon. Smashing motor, lovely smooth engine. Not owned a Ford since though.

Have you had the cortisone injections for that?
No. I have only ever been told about stretching and insoles.

I had Plantar Fasciitis in both heels, around 25years ago now,
Went the Doctor and he suggested I buy the most expensive insoles I could afford, he also suggested a softer soled shoe. If all else failed, he said I would need Cortisone injections right into the heel of my foot. I paid , I think, around £5 for the insoles and about £60 for the shoes, best purchase I'd made in a long time.
I daren't tell him about my ingrowing toenails, God knows what he'll want do.

Try and get yrsen the best insoles you can afford, I get the odd pain now and again, just depends on what shoes I've been wearing, tho I can't remember the last time I wore high heels.
