Unless Stafford's BT cabs are upgraded to GFast , then broadband speeds will be limited to 76Mbps or below ( usually well below )

more on GFast here.

However my speeds with Virgin are much higher so i'll be staying with them a while yet.

For those on virgin media for internet and on the top speed package 350/20 , if you reboot your router your upload speed should now be around 35 rather than 20.

In a few days the download speed should increase to 500 from the 350 we have now.

There is no charge for this speed boost.

Oooo, hope they’re doing that with the business fibre too. I’m on 350/15 right now

I kept being re-assured whilst with Virgin that I was on the fastest super duper speed package. When my final lot of bargaining to get a better deal on renewal met a with a "No, you have kept getting discount since 2007 , you can't expect to have discount anymore" from a jobsworth.....I then rang back to cancel as I'd found much better 18 month deal with TalkTalk on black friday (without even realising it was black friday).
Then got a Virgin operator who tried their best to keep me with them , and as a 'valued customer' they would upgrade me and put me on their fastest speed. Told her I thought I was supposed to be on it already, according to their emails. Seems I wasn't....

Was originally a bit sceptical of changing to TalkTalk after all these years, but son was happy with them and turned out it was the best decision ever! Now enjoying much faster broadband with less outages, and saving a fortune at the same time.

Ive been quite lucky regarding any outages , I think I've only had one in the 4 years I've been with them.
Told them I didn't want the phone as I've already got a mobile contract elsewhere and wasn't that interested in keeping the TV channels ..... Ended up keeping the TV channels for £1 a month and top tier broadband for £36.

Winner :)

I'd been getting phone, TV and Broadband for £30 with Virgin for years after keeping getting offers from redemptions to keep my custom. This time I got a shitty bloke who told me it's either pay something like £85 a month from now on :o , or go...I went .

If I'd have got the helpful person ,who answered the phone when I rang back to cancel , in the first place I'd have taken her £35 offer . But by then I'd already got a half price 18 month deal with TalkTalk for £19.95 .(By chance I rang on Black Friday and got the one day offer without even realising :D)

Seems the 500/35 virgin media product is being rolled out.
There's a sting though, you have to be signed to the top tier package starting from £99.

The upload speed is free though so that's not to bad .
Seeing as I get 380/35 without having to spend anywhere near that amount , I think I'll give the 500 a miss for now ;)

Does everyone get an upload boost? I'm on 200/20 on the gamer package at present.

i think so @tek-monkey , you would need to reboot your router and run a speed test to be sure.

or ...

Go to 192.168.0.1 or if in modem mode go to 192.168.100.1 then go to Check router status then Configuration, Max Traffic Rate should show 38500089

if not , then it may be only for those on the 350/20

You must be part of an incredibly small minority, as they constantly rank last in the Ofcom ISP polls

As long as you are out of contract , just tell them its too expensive and ask to be disconnected.
you will need to give 30 days notice anyway.
They will try and offer you a deal there and then, if thats not good enough , continue with the cancellation procedure.

Retentions will call you back in that time frame and offer you a much much better deal ( less than 24 hours for me).

decide if you want to accept the new deal or carry on and leave. you can always backout as long as its before the cutoff deadline.

good luck.
