The Sun says -

"We called time for the now last night. We will unfortunately not be reopening until the government allows us to reopen fully. We had hoped to operate as an off sale only, on reduced hours, with reduced staffing. However, to make all of our staff eligible for 80% of normal pay funded by the government, we must close our site completely. Our dedicated team are the biggest asset we have, and any decisions we make must put them first. We’ve done some number crunching, and between government support and our own funds, the decision to close allows us to continue to pay all of our team 100% of their normal wages while we are closed, which is the best support we can give them at this troubled time, and means that when we are able to reopen fully you’ll be greeted by the same smiling faces . . !

Before we sign off, we need to ask a favour. You’ve supported us fabulously during the 10 years that we’ve been open and made us the best pub in Stafford, and we’d like to ask you to transfer some of that wonderful support to our local suppliers. They will all have been hugely affected by the closure of multiple pubs, restaurants, cafes etc. So, if you are able to support any of the following, either by purchasing directly from them, or by purchasing their products when you see them available in retailers we’d really appreciate it, and we know they will too. Tiggy's Bakery supplies our baked goods Tiggy's Bakery, Just Crisps Just Crisps - you’ve guessed it, crisps!, and we can not forget our butcher A Hindle A. Hindle & Son Butchers.

Finally, if you find yourself unable to cope and need some Titanic beer - or gin! - our brewery shop at Titanic Brewery HQ remains open Monday to Saturday 9-5, or you can shop online at www.titanicbrewery.co.uk

This is Team Sun signing off. This is not our final Sunset!"

Well, thoroughly enjoyed lunchtime there today, not crowded although it was early afternoon. Table service then pay at the bar seemed to be norm.
Tucked in to roast beef dinner with enormous crunchy yorkie pud washed down with a couple of bottles of red vino.
Approx 12 other punters inside on exiting through the car park caught sight of approx another 12 persons outside, at a guess it was 3 metre distancing throughout....

Felt pretty safe ......

The Sun has its Sunrise Beer Festival Friday 29th April to Sunday 1st May. Two real ale bars, live music each day, gin bar, food from local restaurants.

There's three beer festivals coming locally up but I can't find a beer list for any of them, not that I probably would have gone if I had.

Hockey Club & Swan @Stone are the other two, already posted on here, no idea of the beer lists.
Yes, Andy's recent email had informed me where the three are but a few years ago I might have expected the website of each to include a beer list, not that it's of any consequence as I probably wouldn't be going anyway.

If I may ask @Mudgie, why wouldn't you be going? I would have thought they would be right up your street.

I will try to attend at least one of them depending upon other things I've got on.

As far as I can remember for their beer festivals
the Sun uses plastic glasses,
the Hockey Club have in cask coolers that rid the beer of any condition and
the Swan have tokens bought in a fixed amount without refunds on leaving.
Other than that they might be right up my street.
