It would appear I might soon be locked into my house and isolated from society. There is irony here, it was supposed to be the other way round. I might have wasted a lot of money on ammo and tins of beans ... :heyhey: ... (I've gone off Marmite thanks to Perry !!! :urgh: )

If they try to keep me out of the pub ... there could be blood. :pint:

Still, the internet is providing me with some laughs ... and I'm reading up on Marcus Aurelius.

Now the policy is not to test, we have no idea if there are local cases or not. I've got two friends in isolation this week with symptoms of fever and coughs but nobody knows if it's a regular seasonal virus or not.

If you don't test then you don't have a problem, confirmed cases are low so you do t have to act. Sorry all your parents died, but the data said we didn't have to care :strange:

If it's just a fever and a cough then "you don't have a problem" as it might just be the flu, and even if it is coronavirus, chances are, if you do the right things, it'll clear up by itself. Start getting worried (and alerting people) if you're getting something worse, like respiratory problems.

Testing may just be a luxury we can't afford just right now. It'll give an idea of the scale of the problem, but don't we already have a pretty good idea of that from the experiences of Italy, Spain and the rest of western Europe? Personally I'd prefer it if they carried on checking my biennial poo sample rather than see if my cough and fever were down to influenza or coronavirus.

ETA Having said all that, it would be nice if you could phone etc someone if you had a cough and a fever, and they would add it to the national statistics.

Considering we don't actually know what spreads the virus yet, why is it ok to spray everyone's hands with a spray when they enter an establishment but then leave hand towels in the loos for people singing happy birthday twice before drying their paws?

I’m getting a little worried now. Trying to continue with normality but to keep being told it’s only the old, those with underlying health conditions and weak immune systems that die, is a little depressing.
We are discussing at home how to manage self isolating. I can’t do my job from home, so I risk losing my job as this is going to be months not days or weeks. Then there’s not seeing the children, who need me now as they’re becoming more worried at the world news, I am saddened that I probably won’t see my parents now for sometime. Both elderly, both high risk groups, both already geographically isolated and lonely.
I haven’t done any panic shopping. I’m almost out of antibacterial hand wash which I use any way as standard.
Whilst I’m moaning, I also can’t find my thermometer!

Try not to worry about stocking up on some of the stupid things that are being panic shopped for at the moment.
We survived many years before toilet roll was invented.
Looking around on the internet , theres lots of options to actually make a sanitiser using various chemicals readily available.
Regarding food , try and stock up on dense dried stuff such as peanuts ( protein), cocoa ( fats) , oil (olive) , sugar ( high energy) .
Ofcourse being a runner you probably know all those anyway.
Try and keep in touch with relatives via phone , videochat , email ... they will want you to be safe too remember .

Over time , its inevitable that we will all get this virus , but I'm hoping that will be when it has peaked and the NHS can manage to cope with it and us .

Glad I drove to Worcester with the thermometer I bought son now , when the post office wouldn't let me post it. He's been testing his temperature daily as he comes in close contact with over 100 public daily at work. One employee has sent a message tonight....can't come to work as her Worcester uni halls are on lockdown. After 7 days it will be reviewed and if needed the whole uni closed down and students told to go home.
Sons work mates girlfriend is isolated as been in contact with someone with it.
Son was out tonight with him. :hmm:
Son daren't come to visit it is incase he brings it here and it kills us with us being in the vulnerable category...:(

Hearing on TV that 1 in 20 infected in UK expected to be in intensive care ...bloody scary !

Keep receiving texts saying not to ring 111 unless more or less dying, yet the TV programme I'm watching right now is advising to ring 111 as soon as you feel ill.
