With a large amount of home time looming, I've started to look through the Open Universities' Open Learning free courses catalogue; a huge amount of short, free courses to choose from.

These look perfect, not too long and without the pressure of working towards formal exams / qualifications which, of course, you can always move on to later, if you wish.

If anyone else is interested, here you go: https://www.open.edu/openlearn/free-courses/full-catalogue

That's me ready to bunker down now. Hair done (needed it done as kept touching my face trying to clear it when it kept going in my eyes) , car filled up and parked up in the garage, enough food and booze in the house to survive a few weeks .

Had a phone call from bloke coming to do the driveway , should have been coming tomorrow but his daughter has cough and high temperature so they are self isolating.

Whilst navigating the roundabout by the Knot and Plough a white estate pulled out in front of me without even looking.

I had to do an emergency stop to avoid hitting the car but my anger was quelled when I read the logos on the side and back of the car.

You've guessed it, it had logos like these

My daughter has her first aid test tomorrow after a week of training as part of her management courses at work.
She already has first aid skills certificates from her public services training but this was needed as an updated course.

I'm sure she will pass but I'm hoping those skills wont be needed so soon after.

Good luck to your daughter @perry081064 .Son has already used his skills he learnt in the same courses he took to become management. ( Helped me a lot as well with him teaching me what he'd learnt , I found my first aid session easier with prior knowledge.)

Shes with another guy on the course so hes been picking her up at 5.30am this last few days and dropping her of at 4pm outside the house.
At least social contact is being kept as minimal as possible :)

Feeling very lost after yesterdays announcement.
We all knew school closures were coming, I cant lie - I was thrilled at the possibility of time off as I've been under so much exam pressure.
But now it's all gone - the kids all emailed me last night in tears - they are worked so so hard and it may all be for nothing.
I have no idea what I'm going to do for the foreseeable future as I was planning on continuing to provide revision material / lessons via Skype

I wan't to be helpful, support my students and spend my time well but have idea what to do!

Theres always the chance you will be required to school the children of the key workers.

Went into town today to get a tyre put on a rim I bought off Ebay. This tyre repair kit bullshit with modern cars is not for me.

Now I'm in the pub ... and it's busy.

If you say so. But I don't give in to panic. Panic is the true enemy, that isn't opinion, that's personal experience.
