That's a bummer. I was planning on sorting out the contents of my loft while the virus was on. Maybe the stuff we're keeping can go on one side and the stuff to be chucked out can go on the other.

Closed until the end of the year ?
Cannot understand why as you take your own stuff there.
You remove that stuff yourself.
Doing so keeps Stafford cleaner & tidier as closing all recycling sites will lead to a massive problem with fly tipping.

For sure only allow say 4 vehicles in at a time.
The workers there can easily keep well away from others and its an open air site.

Will the council suspend that part of the council bill that pays for this service that we can no longer use ?

The councils are likely to go bust anyway, paying less council tax is only going to make it worse...

Why can't we recycle carrier bags and juice cartons in the blue bin anymore, seems counter productive putting them in the green bin.

Walked past the Wildwood Co-op carpark on Sunday....cardboard recycling bins been removed, only to be replaced by a pile of cardboard boxes already piling up on the floor where they had been. Never noticed whether the other bottle/paper/cans ones were still there. Too busy being gobsmacked at the double bed base which had also been dumped there on the carpark :ohno:

Recycle your crisp packets, Pringle tubes, chocolate wrappers, toothbrushes and more via Tranquility / Roots on the Newport road, next to the shoe shed and raise funds for charity.
https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/ab...utm_medium=menu&utm_source=www.terracycle.com
Took these there today, 2 boxes of crisp packets (about 15kg +) Chocolate wrappers and Pringle tubes all helping to raise funds for charity with nothing going to land fill.
Roots - We have closed our physical shop until further notice -
All recycling facilities are postponed at this time too, please hold onto your items until we can begin collecting again.

Diktat No. 1.3:

No one is to leave their box - all outdoor activities are to be confined to the rear of the box area

Diktat No. 1.3.1:

All collections of detritus from the rear of the box area are to cease as of yesterday

People:

Well that's a bit stupid, isn't it?

Watching the recycling team down our road at the moment.
4+ men walking down standing waiting by a bag each, waiting for the lorry to arrive for them to empty and put back. Taking ages , they all seem to be milling around on phones, not really knowing the system. Still only half way down our small road and been here over 10 minutes now.

Only the bags being done at the moment.

(Talking on the phone, saying going to take them weeks and people will just have to wait ,so seems like they haven't really thought this one out! .... couldn't help overhearing as talking loudly outside my window)
Actual blue bins not being done by this team by looks of it ..

Bags that have been emptied are just put back open , not flattened down. Luckily not windy today.

Hmmmmmm....edit.... strange.... Now ages after, the 4 blokes have walked back up the road, taken off their high Viz vests and got back in their cars ( parked in our road) in their shirt & ties, and driven off followed by the lorry...maybe bosses doing an excercise on how units going to be allocated ???

I was at the tip at the weekend getting rid of cardboard that would have filled my bag. The tip was the busiest I have ever seen it. Close to being full of cars almost back to the battery storage.

Hope they come back and do the blue bins - they must need separate lorrys now, or what would be the point in us separating it into bins/bags

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
It was last week for us. It appears that neighbouring roads had their bag delivered but not ours.

Hopefully they’re the people making the decisions and realising this won’t work and won’t save them money

We made good use of the good weather to sort out our out-house yesterday. And of course, a fair amount of it is for chucking out. Normally I would have taken it up the tip but with that closed, it's now in the green bin, which is now full. I've held a few bags back to go in as soon as it's emptied later today.

And the new paper and cardboard bag is getting pretty full as well, almost all with paper. I wouldn't fancy lifting that in a week's time.
