Enjoying a drop of red.
You'd have thought it was a bank holiday weekend so packed was the Chase this morning. So much so that there was no possibility of letting the dog off the lead so we gave up.

We are rural and very close to a footpath, with the exception of 3 or 4 locals we barely see anyone, the last week though has been horrendous, hoards of people up and down. It’s had me on edge a little, I was was feeling relieved we were so out of the way but it seems the open countryside had brought everyone and their dog (and probably their germs too) to our little patch of green, also people are nosey so we’ve had them off the path and up the side of our boundary interfering with the pony again.

I've had a sort-of day off today. Just pottering about in the Chalet, as it's been rather chilly and breezy outside, although very sunny.

I emptied the ash from the fire and tidied up the hearth area. I will clean the flue on the next warm morning, I think, although the fire is burning very cleanly these days. I do have a CO monitor in here.

I've had a bit of a clear out of various waste materials from around the place, as it's green bin day here tomorrow and there is always the prospect of a further reduction in general activities in the future - the bin hasn't been out for four weeks, either.

I've reorganised the food storage, restocked the 'immediate use' beverage jars and obtained a small bottle of milk from the Big House supply, as I will barely manage into tomorrow with the end of the stuff that I brought with me.

I'm just about to bring the bedding in from the solar airing houses, as the shade moves onto them.

I'm contemplating attempting a cheese omelette for tea, the first cooking, beyond just heating something up. It was chicken soup for lunch today.

The Chalet has definitely warmed up - despite not being very active today, my feet aren't cold at all,

I have established contact with many other captives in the locality.

It's all starting to feel 'normal', as we settle into the regime.

The main neighbours are released from their contract tracing isolation now, having been proved to not actually have a leper in the house, and the kitchen staff has been delegated to go foraging. I had a short list of things that would be useful, if they are available, one was pasta - I was then asked for a picture of my preferred shape, to aid with the hunt.

This internet thing is quite handy - imagine trying this in the last century.

I have friends who played this by Skype a few weeks ago.

Although I'm fairly confident that I don't have any small lodgers at the moment, having had supplies arrive in 'vulnerable packaging' has led me to reorganise the storage situation a bit.

The more robust items are located handily in the kitchen area.

The beverage production zone, on top of the fridge, is a bit clearer.

The less robustly packaged things are stored fairly securely in the bureau.

Population density back to expected numbers out on the Chase this morning so a decent, though cold, walk was had before home to some vegan cheese on toast, which was actually rather good.

This afternoon's garden antics have been kyboshed by the weather so fitting in another of p jr's practical engine building lesson on my old CB1100F. We should finish the strip down by tomorrow, then the rebuild can begin. It's a job I've been meaning to get around to fit the past 18 months and already had the necessary parts in for so now seems as good a time as any and will stand p jr in good stead with his home schooling.

Proud Mum moment here so apologies for gushing.

Our Son Alex, tonight won Best Comedy Show at The Leicester Comedy Festival Awards Ceremony.

The comedy festival ran for 3 weeks in February, there were about 900 shows this year and it was whittled down to 6 nominees for this award.

Previous winners over the years when they were up and coming include Jason Manford, Ramesh Ranganatgan, Josh Widdecombe, Johnny Vegas, Rhod Gilbert etc, for our son to win this year is just amazing news for us.
We’re just really thrilled for him.

(Ceremony was done on Facebook behind closed doors, each nominee in each category in their own home, not the black tie event at a venue like previous years)

Settling into the new 'normality'.

A pleasant day for doing a few jobs that I 'haven't been here long enough' to do in the past.

This section of lawn edge gully had got full of weeds and gravel after the Great Flood in January, so I cleared it out and retrieved a lot of the gravel.

Having existed on coffee since arrival, for convenience reasons, I had my first tea today, with a scone heated up on the stove.

I wonder if anybody's captive hubby is impressed by my Jena teapot from the KH shop?

Dinner was poulet à la sauce au vin blanc dans une boîte avec des pâte fusilli. Having finished a bottle of white last night, I decided to go for the alcohol-free Cointreau option.

Got the electric razor out to the back of hubbys hair....these barbers make it look so easy to zoom it up and lop it all off evenly.......several attempts at even-ing the bottom up , each side geting shorter and shorter at each wonky attempt, decided I'd better leave the front, top and sides to grow long but even  At least he hasn't got eyes at the back of his head , so unaware of how (un) professional it looks :embarrass:
