I vote we just declare this season null and void and give the scousers a "look at what you could have won" award or just give them a caravan or a boat to share :)

In all seriousness, much as I hate to say it, if there were no further matches this season it would only be fair to give Liverpool the title
While I agree Liverpool deserve the title, if the season's declared null-and-void, they're in danger of becoming just an asterisk against the 2019/20 season and a footnote.

The ones I feel sorry for are the ones not given the chance to climb to a European place or out of relegation. Or to win promotion.

@cj1 There is talk about earlier reopening for some pubs, clubs & restaurants and government talks with trade bodies have been taking place. Trade talk is about table service only, tables far enough apart for social distancing, only 4 people per table, no standing or mixing (people that is, cocktails ok). May work for large premises or for those with large beer gardens. Takeaways/off sales may also be permitted with adequate precautions.

Trade organisations are talking about 20% of food led pubs & restaurants being lost, 25% of wet led pubs and 30% of late night venues. Sports clubs might be ok but social clubs could have problems.

The problem with social distancing is that it takes up more space, so where you have a fixed capacity pre-coronavirus, you're bound to have a lower capacity (say 80% lower) post-coronavirus. And that's true for restaurants, pubs, aircraft, trains, buses etc.

Now, OK, those pubs and restaurants may only be 50% full most times, but could they survive financially on say 50% of their turnover?

The main problem I see is in big cities where people have to use public transport to get to work. For them, the best solution I can see is to only go in to work three days instead of five, and to stay two nights in a hotel close to where they work.

ETA Or take a sleeping bag in with them and a change of clothes etc.

Clubhouses and locker rooms won't be opening, and competitons won't run. There's supposed to be a new world handicapping system this year, so that'll have to be pushed back.

What is 'necessary' for London will tend to dictate the standard for everybody.

A lot of places were probably borderline cases before all this. In the past, you could often look at a place that was only still going because it was already there, you certainly wouldn't envisage people putting money into starting it up - or restarting it, as would be the case now...

Well , Boris has spoken.
It was pretty much what most people was expecting , but with a hint of a timeline that could possibly be introduced if the circumstances allow.

Hopefully , it will help those that are lets say ' hard of understanding' be able to follow a little better ;)

I dought...
As elastic as i am, you are breaking me - how could this possibly pass the auto-correct thing?

Seriously - 'dought' - what the f is that?

How has that not got multiple red lines underneath it and klaxons sounding around it?

I'm probably not coming over as quite as 'elastic' as i claimed to be, but ffs.

Some people don’t have autocorrect switched on on their phones, tablets or computers.

In the UK, bonded seals are generally known by the trade name "Dowty Seal". They are very useful items, providing a simple and reliable way of sealing directly around a bolt-hole.

A chap I worked with always referred to them in print as Doughty Seals, which, given their rugged reliability, was a name that the marketing department of Dowty might have liked, if they had thought of it.

Having discovered I needed to buy some half decent wood filler for the front door step I thought a quick trip to b&q would sort it out.... Wrong!

A queue going back around the back end of the car park was in place and I passed one couple driving off in a convertible very happy with their "essential" 5ft plants sticking out of the back of the car....

I don't hold much hope for this nation.....

This is what is wrong with us all - one person deciding that someone elses' purchase is "non essential". I wonder how many people thought "Wood Filler?, that's hardly essential is it?"

Perhaps if we stopped judging each other - they may well have picked up the plant on the way to the till after buying new locks for their front door that had been broken into the night before. Judging by the lack of any sort of fence treatment in the DIY shops I would say that many people think that is essential - for their sanity if nothing else!

Some people have nothing better to do with their day than to judge people, when they know nothing about that person's life, or what they are doing for others.... If you are following guidelines and keeping yourself & your loved ones safe then it's no-one else's business.

I read an article somewhere a few weeks ago about people's 'essential items' purchases, no, paddling pools and slides, and paint, and DIY items may not seem essential to you, but if it keeps the kids occupied, and gives people something to do, then yes, they are essential, maybe preventing them from slipping back into bad habits (drink/drugs etc)... Everyone needs to take a step back and concentrate on their own life & problems.

its just a shame that those who criticise the most are usually the ones at fault themselves.
Its easier for them so they can justify their own misgivings.

As for what is deemed 'essential' , anything is really.... however making several trips in and out a day , every day to get them, isnt exactly 'biding by the lockdown restrictions ' really is it ?.
Then those very people moaning about everyone else who is doing it as well is just taking the piss.

either they are ' extremely forgetful' or more likely taking the mickey.

just saying ;)
