Walking around the lake this morning I took this pix at the feed end of the reservoir. This is the River Tamar, which comes out mightily about 40 miles south in Plymouth. Of course by then a simple footbridge won't do, you have to get the likes of Isambard Kingdom Brunel in to build a bridge.

It's definitely looking much more feeble than usual though with all this dry weather.

The robin has just popped into the shed to announce that there is a cat in the garden and to insist that I do something about it - now!.
And he has returned with a snack for me, in payment for services rendered.

I am now having to explain that, in line with the current restrictions in force in the Republic, I am not in a position to provide child-care facilities.

Nackerd from 3 hrs work on my camper van, I rested in the garden and listened to the hum of the bees in the old bird house on the wall, there must be at least 30 bees at work in there now, they create quite a soothing hum what with that and the sun on my semi naked body a short snooze was enjoyed.

Are you making one from scratch or renovating?

We made one last year so happy to chat if you need ideas!

I was inspired by this post so went outside and sat in the front garden with a couple of double gin and tonics with lots of soon to be expired ice. Even at 4.30pm that Sun has got a lot of power raining down, it's almost as high as it can get in these latitudes. Must admit, thoroughly enjoyable. (Although I'm now baked to a turn, ahhh what the hell, it's reasonably harmless ... well ... it baked Christopher Lee in the film, and it's had a go at me, there's always a catch. :|)

Well if they're saying you can't sit outside at this time of year on a day like today ... sod it. I'll take the chance. :P

I'm struggling to cope with all this extra, unwanted responsibility.

The one above has been back in - possibly sent to express his thanks for my earlier intervention.

In the two and a half hours that intervened, he has progressed from barely being able to fly a yard to being well able to competently maintain flight for more than twenty yards.

However, his brother has just been in, and it took me and his father about five minutes to persuade him that outside was a more viable area for fledging.

He was sent to stand in the corner as a punishment.

I'm really stressing now.

I've just had another one.

It took me ten minutes to find him, unaided by a parent this time - presumably they're busy with others of their unruly brood. I thought I could hear 'peeping', but I could only hear it with my left ear, which made sonar location impossible. I did eventually find him, but he was far more determined to stay than the first two were - however, I did capture him in the end, and left him in the Café Area for the parents to recover him.

I now have the radio off and the door shut.

No further peeping has been detected.

Making from scratch, some bits from the old van and lots of wood from Wickes, mind you It's the 6th? one I've built so I've no problems doing it and It's the biggest I've built so it's taking some time.

I thought I'd do a simple job this morning, put in the dash camera, 3 bloody hrs it took me, 2 hrs in I realised I'd reversed the pos and neg wires, I knew something was wrong when the wire I was twisting together grew hot enough to burn me.:embarrass:

I wouldn't be without a dashcam. On two occasions I've been able to prove the other guy was 'adjusting the truth.'

For what they cost now it's a great investment. When I start up it says 'Welcome' in what is suspiciously like the voice of a bar girl in Pusan. And it beeps at me a lot about speed limits and cameras. However I have found one real danger. I check the recordings regularly and sometimes find my self watching videos of a long motorway trip I did ... and I find myself watching it avidly like a BBC drama. I mean, it was a bloody boring experience in the first place ... why would I want to watch it again ?

It also could be a great promotion of science. Do you remember that incoming meteor over the city of Chelyabinsk in Russia a few years ago ... it was caught on several dashcams and thanks to the positioning scientists were able to work out the orbit of the object, the likely size and angle of descent before it exploded. (The Russians apparently like their dashcams as motor insurance there can be bit iffy.)
