What's for dinner/tea?

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
I only asked because I've not tried a vegan red wine and wondered if they were as tasty as other reds? One of my favourite reds is a sparkling Shiraz which before trying I would have laughed at 'sparkling? Shiraz?' but it's quite nice. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of chateauneuf du pape and generally wouldn't spend more than about £15 on a bottle of vino but have tasted alot more expensive wines and can fully appreciate the product but I'm a bit to tight to spend £40-£60 on a bottle of wine. I know there are Vegan wines but I've never tried them so wondered if they taste the same without the inclusion of a protein to remove tannings and phenolic content (like egg whites in a consomme) wasn't wanting to offend it's just that recently my son has started seeing someone who is vegan so we are currently making sure we have recipe's and drinks should they come for tea :) also can I be cheeky and ask if you have any good tried and tested vegan recipe's please?
We do have some Château Mahon-Laville Bordeaux somewhere that Mrs p occasionally agrees to share with me. It's really rather nice.

I've not tried that one but I think that's more because I'm not a huge fan with French reds as I find them heavy on the tannings. I'm more Australian or south African reds for me. I do like a good pinotage though and Jacobs creek do a double barrelled shiraz wine where the second aging is done in old whiskey barrels. It's a treat wine and only £12 a bottle:)
French reds for me mainly (brought back in bulk in the days when it was still allowed to go abroad for work/holidays. Nuits St Georges, Crozes Hermitage, Saint Joseph, lovely stuff. Down to my last 30 odd bottles of the stuff I brought back in February.

There's some good cheap wines in Aldi that do very nicely for every-day consumption as well.

Garlic & Chilli Chicken Curry for tea (courtesy of Curry Frenzy Spices and MrLittleme).

It's not ready, I was up at 6am, at work for 7.30am, after 3hours sleep, got home at 4pm after a looong day, I'm really worried that I might fall asleep and someone else will eat it all!

If you don’t enjoy a certain thread or think it’s pointless then don’t read it.

For example, I don’t read the thread about what music people listen to, it’s of no interest to me, but others find it enjoyable. It’s very much a case of each to their own.

I certainly wouldn’t take time out of my day to ridicule something (or a thread) just because I don’t personally enjoy it.
You’ve made it clear @perry081064 that you don’t enjoy this thread about food.
Fine, you’ve made your point.

But please I politely ask that you go away and leave us foodies alone. Some of us enjoy knowing what others have eaten, it gives us ideas, it gives us pleasure.

Live and let live.

Tonight is what I call 'Mexican Salad'

- Couscous with Mexican seasoning and lemon juice
- Roasted sweet potato (sorry haters!) with cumin seeds
- Pepper
- Tomatoes
- Beetroot
- Red onion
- (Anything left over that needs eating)

Toss it all together - nom nom nom!

I love seeing everyone's posts on what they are eating. It's far to easy to get stuck in a rut of having the same food week after week, MrLittleme being furloughed has been brilliant as we've had time to try lots of meals that we wouldn't usualy have time for, with us both working. Far too often we have the same thing, as its quick and no-one wants to cook after a long day.

I'm currently thinking of ways of keeping him hostage when it is time for him to go back to work, just to keep up with all the lovely meals.

@That-Crazy-Rat-Lady - I'm cooking tonight, and we are having the dreaded sweet potato! Sausage & mediteranian balsamic glazed veg, for some reason I can eat them, but only if I cook them. (I will add double the ammount of courgette to make up for having to eat them, and scrape most of them onto Mrlittlemes plate!)

@Trumpet - that sounds really good with a saag aloo topping, I've seen a similar thing that just had plain mash, but yours sounds way better, I shall pass the recipe onto my chef. :D
