We are pleased to announce that we will be re-opening on the 4th July.

Due to government guidelines we have worked tirelessly to try and ensure your safety as well as that of our team.

In line with government guidelines we will be having to work very differently until further restrictions are lifted.

Firstly you will be greeted at the door where you will be taken to your table. We will be operating a full table service so no one will go to the bar.

Please do not enter the pub without staff assistance.

Please respect our team as we try to ensure you have an enjoyable experience whilst maintaining everyone’s safety.

Upon entry we will need to take a name and number for each party to comply with track and trace.

At this point in time if you are planning on dining with us it is advisable to book a table.

Ultimately we look forward to seeing you all again and welcoming you back to The Spitall Brook

As I understand from our haidresser she has had to buy a complete second set of equipment so that one set can be sterilized while the other is in use, plus protective clothing that can be changed between customers. Plus for salons the need to sanitise the area between customers. This does bring extra costs to be recovered.
I've always been concerned about the number of customers wearing the capes/ gowns/ neck things etc before me as well as brushes & combs.

Hopefully now will get completely fresh attire for the ordeal ( don't know how some find hairdressers relaxing..not far behind dentists on my dread to visit list..)

CANDID REOPENS ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC ON SATURDAY 11 JULY

We’ve been working on a plan which we feel will be safe for everyone, enjoyable for our customers, manageable for our team, and sustainable for our business.

We are going to have to take it a day at a time as we adjust to new systems, but for now here is what we have planned:

TAPROOM OPENING TIMES:
Friday 4-11pm
Saturday 1-11pm
Sunday 1-9pm

You will only be able to visit Candid by booking a table in advance. We will ask walkups - even for takeaway only - to book to join us another time. This is to ensure we can manage customer numbers and keep Candid as a safe environment.

Each table booking will be for a maximum of 1 hour 45 mins, which will enable us to thoroughly clean table areas before the next sitting. We will be using an online booking system which will go live early next week.

There will be no bar service. All orders will be placed via our web app, which is currently used for our Click & Collect and local delivery orders, and then delivered to your table. Payment will be taken as part of this mobile ordering process. We will not be accepting any orders at the bar counter, including contactless and cash payments.

We have remodelled our seating throughout to offer siloed seating arrangements catering for groups of 2-8 people. Outside tables will be available to book, but please note that there will be no cover from the elements.

In line with Government guidance, up to 2 households can book a table together indoors. For outdoor seating, 6 people from any households can book a table. You must remain sat at your table throughout your visit unless making your way to the toilets.

A one way system will operate throughout the venue, hand sanitising products will be available and we ask all customers to make use of these on a regular basis throughout their visit. We also ask all customers to help us observe and maintain social distancing measures of at least 1 metre.

CLICK & COLLECT AND LOCAL DELIVERY

These services will continue but with some changes:

Click & Collect will be available daily Wednesday-Sunday, 4-6pm.
Local deliveries will take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays only.

All orders for both Click & Collect and local delivery will be for the next day when placed by midnight the day before.

We will continue to keep you up to date with news and developments. But in the meantime, we’re looking forward to seeing as many of you as we can over the coming weeks!

Had my MOT reminder from FMS yesterday along with an additional letter explaining that due to the MOT extension it isn't due. They also explained that Stafford is now 2 MOT centres short due to closures and they expect the back end of the year to be very busy in respects to Getting an MOT appointment.

I've just checked up on the MOT extension rules because mine is due at the end of July.

The rules, as I understand it, are if your MOT is due from end of March to the end of July then it can be extended 6 months but if it is due after the end of July your current MOT expiry date applies.

When taxing my car at end of June, a message came telling me to check that my MOT date early in July had been extended by 6 months , a few days before it was due . Gave this link to check .... https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronav...cycles-due-from-30-march-2020#stay-up-to-date

As well as being extended and updated to January now , I was able to sign up for text reminders nearer the time.

Good morning all this week is the week we shall be reopening.. yay! Its been too long since we have seen everyone, but as we know times have changed and the way we will work has also had to change. To ensure everyone is safe we have to make some variations to how the bar operates. Grab your morning coffee and take a read.

Entrance to the bar is now through the side door where you will come down the alley into the yard, here you will be met by a member of the team in PPE. You will be asked to sanitise your hands as you enter the bar. As per government rules a member of your party must give us track and trace info. This will consist of names of your group and a telephone number. We will keep this secure for 21 days and then shred the information. We will not use it for any other purposes than NHS track and Trace. After this you will be given a table, please don't leave the table except to use the toilets.

A member of the team will be along to take your order and bring your drinks to you. To begin with we will be running a smaller bar offering so won't have our usual 30+ gins. There will be a smaller cask and craft beer offering as well. There may be some delay to your order and we apologise in advance if this is the case. Payment will be taken when the drinks are delivered to your table. We prefer contactless but will take cash.

The toilets will be kept locked and a key behind the bar which will be sanitized after each use. This is to ensure there is no passing on the stairs and queuing is kept to a minimum. Please please please wash your hands after going to the toilet!! There will disinfectant spray in the toilets if you wish to use it first. There is also hand sanitizer at the top of the stairs for you to use.

Due to the size of the bar and the table layout will be only accepting groups in a maximum size of 4.

We are in the process of working out how many we can safely accommodate and we have put in new outside areas to keep customers dry when sitting outside.

Staff will be doing hourly cleaning of all the areas and each table and chair will be sanitized after use. The staff will be temperature checked before starting work and we have worked rota's out so we bubble the staff to try to keep people working together to a minimum.

There are hand sanitiser stations set up around the bar which you are welcome to use at any time, we can also bring some to your table if you wish.

When you have finished you will be asked to exit through the front door of the bar.

We are looking at if its possible to book tables and how we can do this, i will update you on this through the week.

We want everyone to enjoy their time at the bar and feel as safe as possible so please don't move seats to adjoin another table or get up and join your friends after a few drinks. We all miss the mingling of the bar and the laughter and jokes that happen, the partying on a Saturday to live music but this for now is the new normal. The sooner we can all work together to eliminate COVID -19 the sooner we can all get back to party nights.

Please bear with us during this time as we are all new to the conditions. If you have any problems please see a member of the team direct or contact Vicki and Matt directly though this page.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we can't wait to see you back again on Saturday.

Vicki, Matt and all the team
