Holidays 2020

I was walking the lake this morning in really quite unpleasant muggy heat. The campsite is now pretty busy and the lake is overflowing the dam !! How things can change because a few weeks ago it was a partial mudflat, and very quiet !! I decided to have a pint when I got back and sat outside the pub watching the world go by. Holiday traffic very busy. Pikeymobiles, bikes loaded up with enough kit for the South Pole, weird camper trailer things ... almost seems back to normal.

Just booked a week in Poole , Dorset in a self catering holiday cottage that we've been to twice before. Know it's kept nice and clean and everything you could need for comfort . Even stocks the fridge up for arrival, complete with wine and other goodies ! Will be a different holiday this time with probably still having to pre-book into places ,but at least we'll be getting some good walks out and got our own little garden to relax in if the weather is good :)

Spurred me on to get started (yet again  ) on my diet ....

Well with our California trip cancelled we are now going to the Isle of Skye and the Western Highlands. Probably stay in 3 or 4 places. Anyone recommend any places we must see or go or things to do? We walk and love outdoor stuff, history is good with us too! Good villages, walks, beaches, that sort of thing?

So far we have the Isle of Skye, also considering Glencoe, Glenfinnan, Loch Ness, all a bit predictable and well known! Looking for inspiration!

Thanks

We stayed here for a night last year (a break from the 2 week camper van trip!)

https://www.oldpierhouse.com/

It is the most beautiful location and only 10mins walk outside Fort Augustus which has lovely restaurants!

They also had kayaks for hire (FREE!) and we were able to float down Lock Ness which was unbelievable!

(Also worth nothing that the lad that runs it with his grandma is rather dishy!)

Skye is great with the mighty Black Cuillin Hills. But beware the midges.

I love their cabins and 2 of them allow dogs so I shall send in an enquiry. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing we love. Hope our our dates are free!

Thankyou!

Think it was Skye on Jane MacDonald cruise program that mentioned the midges. A shop sold midge nets to walk around wearing on your head, as well as midge sprays..

We've never been to Scotland , always meant to go (and do a Whisky distillery tour for hubby whilst there if possible as well). With doing staycations this year and hubby now with lots of hol days left , we may get to pay Scotland a visit.
