Calm Cyclist

Angry Cylist seems to have retired.

This goes back about 30 years, but does anyone remember the gent who used to commute up and down Eccleshall Rd on a small-wheel Moulton? He rode in the middle of the lane at a cracking speed, and usually sported a jacket and tie.

There was a chap who used to cycle into GEC in the 1980s.

His attire, regardless of the weather, was a white nylon shirt, with the sleeves rolled up.

People who saw him will remember him - and his name might come back to me at some point.

I'm sure I have seen angry cyclist on a large green motorbike, wearing a blacked out green helmet, twice in the last 2 days.

The first time, I encountered angry motorbike at the lights at the junction of Stone Road and Holmcroft Road, and he did something that angry cyclist would do. 2nd time again he was on the Stone Rd, near enough the exact same place, but didn't do anything...

Last week, he rode full pelt at me (in my car), on the wrong side of the Road, just by Bristol Street Motors.

Luckily I can spot him a mile off & was prepared. Such a shame, as I see him in my works all the time, and he's perfectly lovely then...

I also think he's aqquired a motorbike... Terrifying times.

But was he on a Moulton? Not many around, then or now.

No, he had a 'proper' bike, which did well to survive the violence with which he pedalled it.

I worked with a chap who came in from Hillcroft Park on an RSW16, if that helps.

Nylon shirt and violent pedal action spells sweat. Lucky he didn't ride an RSW16. Soft, fat tyres and a frame made out of a scaffold pipe.
Moulton Man would have left him for dead.

Are we not coming in a bit hot?

To whom are we to compare ourselves to?

Most of us are much calmer than you are to begin with.

It is you, in your furious boxes, that bring the rage.

When we complete our escape from your fury, we pity you.

It is you that is the problem.

Having recently gotten rid of my 30+ year old Ridgeback mountain bike and acquired a new gravel bike I'm somewhat concerned that I may inherit the moniker of "Angry Cyclist" if the last few rides are anything to go by...
You really get a front row seat in understanding just how crap some of the Stafford car drivers actually are!!
