Probably an alien human replacement pod de-rooting itself from the ground. Providing you never fall asleep within 500 feet of it, you should be OK. :P

Found out apparently because I'm 64 , but 65 before next March , I'm eligible for the over 65's flu jab for free. But have to go on a waiting list until they get the vaccine in.
But hubby who is 63 must have the under 65's flu jab (he gets it free normally with his conditions) and can have it straight away from next week .
But if I want to pay I can have the under 65's flu jab without waiting.
Both contain different stuff which prevents against different strands , but pharmacy reckon equally effective ...

Hasn't it come in yet that it's going to be free to all over 50's ?

As the article says:
How will the scheme work?
The NHS will get in contact with all those who are eligible for a free flu jab.

Officials want to ensure the highest risk patients are at the front of the queue for vaccinations when the immunisation programme starts in September, with those aged 50-64 set to be offered the jab later.

The aim is that all those eligible will have had their vaccine by Christmas.

I had a notification whilst ordering my repeat prescriptions that I needed to organise one, either at the surgery or certain pharmacies (luckily our local pharmacy was on the list)

I don't get why they have 2 different lots of strains for over and under 65's ones. ????

It’s because older people have a weaker immune system and wouldn’t be protected with the normal flu jab.
They produce up to 75% fewer antibodies than a younger person.
That’s why they have the enhanced quadrivalent version.

Aaaah thanks @Carole . So I'll be getting the super duper version then :) ......gosh , it's horrible thinking I'm that old enough to have it though :(

I've been having it since my early 40's as I'm diabetic (ie: I have a chronic illness, as its put), they text me about 6 weeks ago saying they will contact me shortly for my injection this year, and also sent me a message saying my 15yr old daughter would need one too.

I have no idea why, she's never been offered one before, and does not have a chronic illness (a heart murmer at birth, but that was cleared by the time she was 4 after lots of visits to BCH).

Husband has not been offered one either, although he is 7yrs younger than me, and is usually told to man up if he ever attends the Dr's surgery (& believe me, he only goes if he thinks he's at deaths door).

It's a mystery. :mystery:
