Searching on-line for information about a house in Gailey which I think may once have been a beer house called the New Inns. Lots of random thinks thrown up. One site offered the the opportunity of a journey from Barcelona to Gailey Station for £76. Firstly I am not in Barcelona and secondly Gailey Station closed in the 1960s (yes, it was the right Gailey according to the map provided.)

I'm always interested when people tell me they used to live in Gailey. I assume there were lots more houses before the A5 was widened? That bit of the M6 is the earliest isn't it?

My most vivid memories of Gailey are approaching Gailey Island on the A449 from Wolverhampton direction in the 70's.
Had to slow down for a male streaker flaunting it all as he legged it across the dual carriageway in front of me .

I've been having it since my early 40's as I'm diabetic (ie: I have a chronic illness, as its put), they text me about 6 weeks ago saying they will contact me shortly for my injection this year, and also sent me a message saying my 15yr old daughter would need one too.

I have no idea why, she's never been offered one before, and does not have a chronic illness (a heart murmer at birth, but that was cleared by the time she was 4 after lots of visits to BCH).

Husband has not been offered one either, although he is 7yrs younger than me, and is usually told to man up if he ever attends the Dr's surgery (& believe me, he only goes if he thinks he's at deaths door).

It's a mystery. :mystery:
Husband has had free ones for several years since his heart condition started.
I've paid to have one at Asda the past couple of years, first guy was really good ( as recommended by @Gramaisc) but last year's 'harpoonist' on duty at the time put me off a return visit..
Wanted to get mine over and done with for this year ( terrified of injections) but will wait for the pharmacy to get in touch to say I've reached the top of the list for their over 65's vaccine when it comes in stock now ( For some reason I was previously assuming it wasn't as good as the younger age group one, and with me presently only 64 wasn't sure what to do..)

Whilst phoning doctors surgery earlier, found out in a recorded message ....

Patients eligible for over 65's flu jab ....surgery bookings being taken from around start of October.
'At Risk' patients will automatically be contacted by the surgery .
Patients in the 50-64 age bracket will be contacted by NHS England to book a free flu jab around November time onwards, as it's a completely seperate program.

Off on an outing to hubbys office to pick up supplies for the next 6 months. Looks like I've lost the dining room table until around next March time unless this Covid thing suddenly goes away.
On a plus side, looks like I've got use of the car whenever I want for yet another 6 months :yay: (Not so good for the weight loss diet though . I used to have to walk miles everywhere in the daytime, now I'm getting lazy )

Spread Eagle railway station was opened by the Grand Junction Railway in 1837, renamed Gailey in 1881 and closed in 1951 not the 1960s.

Just bobbed over Sainsburys get a few bits n bobs.
Is there a toilet roll famine on?
Has World War 3 been declared while I was asleep?
Seems like everyone was panic buying - again.
