Searching on-line for information about a house in Gailey which I think may once have been a beer house called the New Inns. Lots of random thinks thrown up. One site offered the the opportunity of a journey from Barcelona to Gailey Station for £76. Firstly I am not in Barcelona and secondly Gailey Station closed in the 1960s (yes, it was the right Gailey according to the map provided.)
I don't know of a New Inns at Gailey but have used one in Kiddemore Green just south of the Watling Street four miles westwards.
There were also New Inns at Brocton, until 1910, and Haughton, until 1919.
More recently I knew very well the New Inn on Broad Eye kept from 1972to 1976 by Arthur Candlin junior.

Wayfair said my desk would come today when I ordered it yesterday. The dispatch notice came and said next Thursday. I shouldn't be sad but there's not much to look forward to nowadays. ;)

I paid for next-day-delivery for a year with ASOS, placed an order and was informed it would be delivered a week on Thursday....

Started work at 8.30am this morning (I got a lie in, woo hoo) finished actual presence in the building at 5.30pm... But only just finished (8.10pm) updating online work conversations.... Who knew my *simple/easy/no stress/no targets job would get so complicated?

*after a work break, I chose a totally different career that I thought was simple/easy/no stress & no targets job....

Might go for a venture under the floorboards this weekend. Current theory on the abnormal amount of sound that carries from next door is that the party wall isn’t properly sealed between floor and ceiling...

Yes, we've used the Kiddmore Green one, quite a good pub until it was taken over by a pair of dodgy chefs, they also took over the Great Chatwell Red Lion. The "missing" one is very odd, clearly referenced in historical references but its location seems to have been in a black hole as far as census returns are concerned - east of the area covered by the Gailey (Penkridge) enumerator and west of the Gailey with Hatherton enumerator's area.

I can remember when significant lengths of the A1 were like that.
In my memory the A51 south of Wolseley Bridge and north of Sandon were 3-lane into the mid 70s.

There was a good length of it on the A38 north of Bristol - I was once going south in the middle lane on a motorbike and was confronted by a Rover coming the other way. We passed without any detriment to either of us, but I was able to recognise the driver, who was on my course at the Poly and driving his father's car, having gone home to Dursley for the summer.

And the A38, remember my dad having a 'red mist' moment on our way to Devon when I was about 11 or 12. Overtaking, wouldn't back down from a car overtaking from the other direction don't know how we got through, remember my mum screaming, it's stuck with me all these years.

Someone nabbed my trolley on Aldi car park as I was putting the last bag in the front of the car. Well I hope they enjoy the random trolley token.

Ages ago. Before all of this we started getting the house sorted to put on the market. As it goes a fair bit of stuff went into storage. The first of this of course was duvets and the like. So I, I stress....I......am a farking idiot for putting the winter duvet into storage. Tomorrow I might buy a new winter duvet.
