Our 7 yr is in 2 week isolation as there has been a positive test in her bubble at school. Home schooling/working from home this week is going to be fun (its my turn the second half of the week). Luckily I have next week booked as annual leave. Think we will be getting our monies worth out of Disney+ next week!

The Cops say:-

A woman in the Staffordshire Moorlands has been handed a £1000 fine after failing to self-isolate having holidayed in Turkey.

The woman from Werrington – who should have been self-isolating for 14 days - was found to have breached regulations after officers carried out checks at her home and she wasn’t there. It’s believed she had gone to work.

The check-up was carried out as part of our regular observation on those self-isolating across the Staffordshire, following correspondence with Border Force officials.

As well as being handed the £1000 fine, the woman was reminded that if she breaches regulations again the fine will double.

Chief Inspector Mark Thorley, commander for the Staffordshire Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We know the vast majority of people are behaving responsibly by adhering to the Covid legislation and self-isolating when they should be.

“However, there is a very small minority who are breaking the law and think that the rules simply do not apply to them.

“We will continue with our approach to engage, explain and encourage but enforcement action will be taken where people are knowingly breaching the regulations.

"The threat of Coronavirus has not gone away and it is important that we all continue to follow the restrictions put in place to prevent its spread and protect us.”

Chief Inspector Mark Thorley, commander for the Staffordshire Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team, has lost the plot if he seriously thinks that “the vast majority of people are behaving responsibly by adhering to the Covid legislation and self-isolating when they should be".
18% has NEVER been "the vast majority".

Why on earth aren't we in it yet?
Perhaps because the trend for Stafford is only slowly up and may yet level off and healthcare systems are coping well. The increase in measures is not cost-free in terms of the health and welfare of the community or the economy. Also worth noting the sooner an area climbs the tiers the longer the area will need to live with the measures. As it will probably be spring next year before restrictions will be lifted again.

We locked down late as a nation and as a result we stayed in lockdown for longer than was needed. A stitch in time...

City council leader Abi (Brown?) said in sn interview yesterday morning on Radio Stoke that they’d asked the government to put them into Tier 2 now due to the rapid increase in positive cases as these almost doubled in a week. They were expecting to be put into Tier 3 next week or possibly the week after so were trying to avoid this, especially with the increased financial assistance now available for Tier 2.
P. S. Not as bad as the 3fold increase for Gnosall & Haughton. Up from 94 last week to 271 this week!!!

I live closer to Gnosall and Haughton than I do to Stafford... Do you have family at that school?!
