Christmas would be the ideal time for a full lock down if the government would only grow a pair. Closing everything like last time on Friday 11th December & reopening on Monday 11th January would have the best possible effect with the least impact (schools would already be closed for 2 weeks, most people would be off work for a week or so & even essential shops would be closed for a few days anyway). Hospitality would be the most affected sector but surely a short sharp shock would be better than the slow lingering death they’re facing with the present restrictions.
It’d take a very brave politician to suggest this though so it looks like we’re f**ked

Couldn’t agree more @Lucy

Personally I’m more interested in saving lives and saving the economy than saving Christmas.
These days it appears for some people to be nothing more than an excuse for excess.
"saving lives and saving the economy" but that must be an "or" choice not an "and".

That's way too late though.
Very true but it’ll giveBoris & Dominic time to “consider” the effects of all the half arsed measures they’ve put in place.
It’s only 6 weeks(ish) away so it might not be enough time for them to decide though.

Preston's leaks suggest Thursday. Hopefully the presser delay is due to the Teachers Union statement and they do something about the schools. Or course if they'd done it when they were supposed to...

The 1700 announcement is now going to be about 1830.

Are Boris and his cronies watching the rugger by any chance? Good they've got their priorities right, eh?
