Focussing on improving the facilities of the current bit. A pro is starting in the new year, a new practise area is being set up and there's going to be footgolf.

I've seen the plans for the extended golf course. They look very good, hopefully it will be built very soon.

Who knows. Lots of good work going on on the current course and that's good enough for me.

Who knows?

That's quite the question.
Focussing on improving the facilities of the current bit.
Is the focus on the 'current bit' anything to do with the fact that the 'new bit' will not happen?

Has not the Stafford Castle Golf Club essentially given up on this endeavour?

Did it not pretty much abandon faith in this project some many months ago?

Is that not exactly why there is 'a lot of good work' going into working out what they can do with what they've already got?

Is it not because they know there will not be any more?

That you can say there is security to protect on-site vehicles is so laughable that it is so beyond funny it has actually become funny again.

Sometimes it is easy to see who has been scammed by just looking at how vehemently they deny they have been scammed.

@Withnail , you think I give a toss. I've been a member of the golf club for 25 years, and been around it all my life. It was 9 holes when I joined, if I wanted 18 so badly then I could have moved elsewhere.

Was the new bit ever going to happen? In 2004 probably. But I don't actually care.

It's nice to see I'm your latest 'conquest' though.

Never understood the appeal of golf myself!
I have a friend who used to play golf, sadly due to the Big C, he's had to curtail it for a bit. He's always said you get a lot more exercise than most, due to the amount of walking you do. Personally, I don't see the attraction. But each to their own, I wouldn't knock anyone for their choice of sport.

I'm not in any way knocking any one. I just don't get the appeal.

Not sure who has been scammed here?
Not been told the whole truth? Sure, I think most members at SCGC have suspected that an 18 hole course won't happen for the last 10-12 years. They aren't stupid! However, most just couldn't care less as long as the current facility continues as it is. Why? Because its actually quite good, quite friendly and quite convenient for most.
None of the members have invested in the proposed course, they haven't lost any money. They have paid their subs and got a more than presentable facility in much the same way they did before the current owners/leaseholders/developers/investors took control in 2008....quite a good deal really.
There probably are some questions that need to be answered and things probably haven't been quite kosha,,,but as Lucy says, no-one gives a toss.
I'd like an 18 hole course, but the 9 we've got are good and the main thing is that it stays open. That is probably the biggest issue over the coming years.
Cue a really funny post from Tilly that has everyone is stitches

Having watched Dark Star a few weeks back, I wondered if that was the origin of the name..?

If so, you just need to spot the hippy astronaut amongst the membership.

Probably fairly easy...

It's 18 if you go round twice and if you do has the advantage of two visits to the clubhouse :)
