Stafford Traffic.

Only stupid if you think cars own the road. Some of us see them as transport corridors where others should also be entitled to travel safely
Not what I said. I said they were a stupid idea which should not have been implemented.

What should be implemented is a proper transport policy which includes fully functioning cycle lanes (rather than the pathetic red tarmac we have now) as well as space for motorised transport.

Unfortunately I can’t see it ever happening.

Because they weren’t needed.
Well the one by Glover Street went a good way towards stopping the arseholes driving through the big puddle deliberately to soak pedestrians. Plus the whole lot allowed you to social distance, as you are supposed to, when walking. Otherwise you walk into traffic. All at virtually no cost to the motorist in terms of time lost on a journey.

If you get the registration number report them to the police on 101, it is an Inconsiderate Driving offence. Persuade others to report them as well.
I did it on November 25th last year, although it doesn't feel that long ago at all.

I also note that there is still no effort apparent to resolve the ridiculous sump on Gaol Square. Someone in an Astra that the cops now have the number of made a clear decision to soak a load of schoolkids there about an hour ago.

I never heard any more about it, but I probably wouldn't, I suppose.

It was a clear-cut deliberate action.

There was never any social distanced walking when I’ve been down there. Nor on South Walls.

Ah right, so on the basis of having driven past every now and then for perhaps 15 seconds you have reached your conclusion.

Fair enough, I'll leave it there...
I’ve driven around town very regularly since installation to make my conclusion. I’ve seen plenty of people walking past each other without any distance between them. It’s the same in supermarkets and other shops when they were open.

Yes like you I have never seen anyone use the additional lane to walk in when I have driven past or even walked that way, guess that is why they have now been removed but agree that some should have been left for lake filling times.

I used these socially distanced lanes when I walked to town...

There's never normally that many people in town / walking to down that it becomes a problem and you have to use them, normally enough space

Compared to the shops anyhow...

My main problem is those stupid scooters and the 14 year olds that use them somehow

You don't think the shoos all being closed had anything to do with that? Next Wednesday the shops reopen again, in the run up to Christmas. Is there not just the slightest possibility that footfall my increase?

I don't believe I've seen any 14 year olds riding the official scooters. But then I've not stopped them and asked to see their ID like you obviously have.

Have to admit I've not really seen the official scooters being ridden in silly way but I do fear for their riders when I see them riding (quite legally) places like Newport Road and the Island at rush hour.
