Not sure what's wrong with me, but the the first thought I had was, I wonder how many people are alive still in this video?

I'm not morbid at all

P.S Happy christmas

Film directors sometimes use that technique to open a film - a gushing promotional sequence of how things were back in the day, then the soundtrack tails off into a deep echo and the colourful visual image is replaced by a grey, post apocalyptic landscape.

Enjoyed watching that , and recognising a few people as well ( and looking to see if I was walking past in the background... Now I do feel old , being around in the good old days!)

Going to be singing that song in my sleep all night now, can't get it out of my head!

Anybody put a year on this video? I'd guess late 90s.
The phone number at the start suggests post-1995.

The situation the Wardstaff shop would suggest it's around 1998-ish - I accidentally went to their wedding...

And the Gatehouse panto in 2000 was Dick Whittington.

So, I think it could be in the autumn of 2000, based on the weather.

Knew i wouldn't be far off. I remember going to the old casa wimpey for lunch some days from work and that was around the turn of millenium.
Young lady I used to go with has just turned 40 and I can remember it being her 21st when we worked together.

prime location too, surprised it closed. the one at milford is always busy, then again there's not many options around there

Guess it's all about the dolla too, probably got a lot for selling up

Baffles me why we can't have nice things around town, I mean there's a 4th macy's going up on j13 by catch corner I believe

Wimpy was, and is, very expensive compared to McDonalds. You can mention the food quality but price and a massive advertising budget wins in the fast food market.

That Wimpy was the scene of a miracle around 1977 or 8.

We had been to Eccleshall, as a group of about eight, on five motorbikes, and decided to end the night there.

As we were enjoying our repast, some small disputes arose amongst the other diners and the cops arrived.

The cops were both women and were not at all inclined to get involved - they sat in the car 'observing' the fracas.

It was clear that things were going to escalate and we made preparations to leave.

Just as I was riding past the side of their car, a car with two bloke coppers in turned up - this was the signal that it was 'safe' for the girls to make a move and the driver flung her door wide open, right in front of me.

To this day, I cannot see how I managed to avoid riding slap-bang into it - and her.

If only there had been CCTV there then.

Somehow, I managed to manoeuvre round the door, her and everybody else standing in the road, without hitting anything or anybody.

I wonder if that was the same time as .........That Wimpy was also a scene of a fatal stabbing . I was over the road in the Grapes at the time and someone ran in saying to ring 999 as someone had just been stabbed across the road in the Wimpy (Didn't have mobile phones in those days). Sadly the bloke , who had been at the Wimpy with his girlfriend , died.
A very rare occurence in those days in Stafford.

I prefered the Wimpy before the days of measured and diced onions. Used to pile loads of greasy big slices of onions on in the early days. Lovely dripping with red sauce !
