Yes.

But only just.

The demarcation point is actually at the top of Yarlet Bank, just about where the Greyhound is.

The latitude that I was born at.

The place to which you refer is historically the point that, when these things were far more relevant, national newspapers used to have two main printed editions. This is pre world wide web of course. So the northern editions , usually printed in Manchester, but later some printed in Stoke, would not deliver south of Yarlet Bank. The southern editions printed in London, not north of it.

Obviously the line would have to continue both east and west of this position. Separately, this the point at which HS2 may one day slither between the the decayed north and the beautiful south.

Clayheads have been known to expect to see the edge of the world when being driven south on the A34, just as they pass the Greyhound and begin the decent into 'town' For many, Trentham Gardens, actually in Stafford, is quite far enough thank you.
To be fair, locally based Stoke City supporters have travelled great distances, however, this is because they have done it by entering the pressurised tardis vehicles known as 'Procters'

I remember once going to a cross-country race up past Stoke way.
It was dry and sunny in Stafford with no sign of snow , except for a car we saw covered in it filling up in Sandon Rd garage.
Got to the top of Yarlett Bank by The Greyhound and there was a clear line across from no snow to deep-ish snow ,and driving in snow blizzards all the rest of the way . Coming back in the snow, we got to that line across the top of Yarlett Bank....suddenly no snow on the road still on this side , and looked like it had stayed a nice sunny day in Stafford.
In the early hours of a June 2nd in the early 1980s (possibly 1981 or '82?), I ascended Yarlet Bank through big flakes of falling snow - from the bottom, where the speed cameras are now, as far as the bend after the Greyhound.

People who live near borders tend to be a bit more pragmatic about what those lines on the map mean. So .. the 'eee baaa gooom' types that live north of Yarlett Bank and the 'I say, this is terribly terrible' types to the south (although personally I find it difficult to think of Dudley as being in the south) take a more realistic view and keep two flags in the attic, occasionally glancing out of the window to see who's winning this week. :P

That would be a lot of decibels from such a small cat. Maybe you should name him Foghorn Leghorn after the cartoon character ... :heyhey:

Rang my elderly neighbour to check she was ok. Her husband has just died and she is almost blind , so can't see the phone keys to ring me if needing help.

Wasn't expecting to hear the dead husband's voice answering the phone

They have an answering service on their phone which asks your name , before the call is passed on to them to answer or not. I didn't like to mention to her that his voice was still on it , not knowing if she just didn't realise or left it on on purpose :hmm:

A friend of mine died in 2010, he had a small company and a contract phone for business purposes. His wife had a PAYG phone, and she thought she might as well use his to inform people of the funeral arrangements, as hers was running out of credit anyway.

A week after he'd died, I was standing in a back garden in Baswich, discussing something or other, when my phone rang and I pulled it out of my pocket to find that "he was calling me".

It took me a couple of seconds to answer it...

I've just asked the carer if he will cut my hair tomorrow.... I've not been to the hairdressers since last February.... He seems very unwilling to suffer any concequences from a bad haircut.... I really need a haircut! Suggestions on how to convince him please? :ohno::ohno::ohno:
