Have your say on Victoria Park.

Am I on my own when I say I much prefer no bird cages at all and would rather watch and encourage the wild birds
No, and that's exactly what I suggested in my submission to the redevelopment consultation.

I like them, they're pretty.

If they're happy they'll keep breeding, so if they keep breeding they must be happy.

I doubt they've much of a mind to mind it much.

Walked through this morning from Sainsburys direction & they have strimmed the grass / weeds on the river side of the path but only the very bare minimum & not raked up the mess.
The other side of the path remains a mess with the bins overflowing & rubbish all around, go under the bridge & you enter another world with everything neat and tidy.
Strange way to run the place IMO

You'd be surprised, birds have a lot of personality and intelligence. I care for an 11 year old budgie who has a moult disease and can't fly, he requires a certain level of creative stimulation or he gets bored and will let you know about it.

Budgies also understand grammatical patterns in speech to the level of about a 7-month old human, if I recall correctly. They're remarkable things.

And while very young birds learn to fly which is something we can't do at any age except with a powered machine.

Walking in from Sainsbury direction the park benches are dire & nobody in their right mind would sit on them, the bins are always gross and over flowing with bags of dog shite perched on top (at least they try but could take it home ?)
So it seems that "at" the park it is kept to a nice condition but ignored leading to it (IMO)

Nothing to do with the park but that walk alongside the river from Asda towards M&S is dire.
The river can barely be seen with the growth, litter strewn everywhere & then the narrow dark section under the road that is covered in bird droppings as that is the local pidgeon avery.

You should report it to Street Scene.

Indeed, probably one of the most horrible places in Stafford, when it shouldn't be like that.

After all the work they did updating Victoria park, it's a shame they have forgotten the basics, like fixing the broken and missing planks along the river side and putting the waterwheel back together.
