I've just asked the carer if he will cut my hair tomorrow.... I've not been to the hairdressers since last February.... He seems very unwilling to suffer any concequences from a bad haircut.... I really ne a haircut! Suggestions on how to convince him please? :ohno::ohno::ohno:

Buy a pair of clippers, grade 1 all over, he'll have no problems managing that :)

We borrowed a neighbours clippers and my first idea was to go grade 6 all over but the OH wouldn't do that.

Today I've been fighting crime at work & stopped 2 from happening. I'm rather proud of myself. :cops::cops::cops:
If you have any elderly/vulnerable friends or relatives, please keep an eye on them.

My 2nd cime busting episode today consisted of an older lady receiving a phone call asking her to buy £1000 worth of Gift Cards. She complied with everything they told her, including refusing to talk about the phone conversation to me.

The worrying thing is that 'they' booked & paid for a taxi to bring the lady to Sainsburys, and back home, where she would be told which safe place to leave them in.

Luckily I'm suspicious of EVERYONE, and managed to find out more info & involve the police.

She was a lovely lady, & truly believed she was doing the right thing, was adamant that she was going to buy the gift cards, they had told her she could get them from Sainsburys or the Post Office. She didn't want the police or family involved.

Please make any relatives aware that this is happening in Stafford. Very scary all round.

Well done you.
I've read about this happening before, but never thought they would pick somewhere like Stafford, during Covid to do something like this.

I'm so sad that the person completely believed the person on the phone, she was fully compos mentis and you wouldnt ever have thought anyone could so totally believe a stranger over the phone. Whatever they said to her really convinced her not to discuss the conversation with any shop staff, family or friends.

Please make any friends/family aware, as scammers often work 'areas'.

Well done @littleme

My parents were done out of £10,000 by clever fraudsters.
They must have been on the suckers/ gullible list....

After me repeatedly telling them to bin all the ' You have won the Spanish lottery...we need your bank details and money up front for carriage / admin charges to be able to pay you' . Parents insisted it must be legit , even though they' d never entered the so called lottery..... :ohno:

Unknowingly to me , they had a phone call , supposedly from Lloyds Bank , saying their bank details had been compromised.
Stupidly gave their details, passwords for verification that they were in speaking to the account holder...

Then people posing as cops turn up at their door ,saying they are the fraud squad and need parents card .

Idiot parents handed card over, along with any paperwork....... £10,000 dissappeared that day , never to be seen again! Unfortunately when the fraud squad went to investigate , my parents wouldn't take action to recover the money as they thought it was ' dodgy,' :hmm:

Can I ask why they asked her to do this?

What was the scam?

I've never heard of being asked to physically buy gift cards and hide them - what was the story?

There have been quite a few gift card scams around this time of year over the years.

It is when you would expect people to have received them for XMas but not necessarily for stores they want something from.

Some years ago I remember being asked to buy some gift cards from a distant acquaintance which they had bought to help someone out. I didn't have a use for them and as it happened they turned out to be fakes.

Isn't there similar on this forum now ?
I've logged on and seen "Survey Quick / You Have (1) Unread Message / Congratulations! / Today you have been chosen to participate in a survey. It will only take a minute and you could receive a fabulous prize" followed by dodgy looking comments suggesting it's all genuine.
I expect completion of the survey is followed by a message that an iPhone has been won and it will be sent as soon as bank account details are given to pay for the £1 postage and packing !
