Sir Captain Tom Moore

proactive

Enjoying a drop of red.
I have no problems with his trip. He was safer there than here anyway. I just would have expected him to be one of the first vaccinated.

If we could choose how we depart this realm, I could think of worse ways TBH.
My post wasn't intended at you mate, I just made it as part of a reply to his vaccination query.

Because then someone would have started a thread complaining that he was first in line, what a disgrace, blah, blah.

The poor chap's dead. Let him be.

This thread seems utterly pointless to me. Why no thread of righteous indignation towards Rita Ora or anyone of the countless 'celebrities'/'influencers' who have committed far worse 'holiday crimes'.

Bloody hell, what have we become?

Well said.

But it was a bit naïve to think raising money for the NHS would mean more nurses or more doses of vaccine.
With our government, definitely, but I appreciate him trying. Unfortunately he grew up in a time when being an absolute lying bastard happy to kill your own for a few quid wasn't as normal in politics as it is nowadays.

No, he was fortunate to grow up in a time when being an absolute lying bastard happy to kill your own for a few quid wasn't normal in politics.

Bit awkward babb, we've had put a veto on takeaways, because you don't know who's touched what!
They do get bits and bobs from relatives, socially distancing drop offs of course, We have to wipe everything down and keep it to one side for a while, just in case.
I am a bit peed off about the post subject to be honest, there was a photo on Farcebook, Sir Tom photographed with Russ Abbott and Sir Cliff Richard in Barbados, none wearing masks, if I'm remembering correctly.
I can't go and visit my very ill 90yr old Aunty in Lichfield, and they wag an old man of 100 abroad for his jollies!
If Dom can go to Barnard Castle Tom can go to Barbados.

I can't go 20 minutes down the road to visit my poorly 90yr old Aunty.
Two wrongs don't make a right. They still shouldn't have gone on holiday anywhere.

Indeed. But the rich and famous get away with anything.

Oh come on, this government is doing its best to clamp down on offenders isn't it? Just look at the massive £200 fine they've imposed on Newcastle's Joelinton for contravening COVID rules.

He'll really struggle to pay that out of his £4.1 million salary won't he?

They were away mid November and returned during the first week in Dec on the 5th before restrictions in Tier 2 areas. They weren't breaking any rules.

IMO
It was very unwise for a man of that age to fly for hours on a plane especially in these troubled times.
It is a well known place (inside a plane) to catch things like colds ETC and it turns out he was taken to hospital with pneumonia and is odds on what he died from.
From the few pic's I saw he had a nice time & that is all that matters.
R.I.P Tom
