Coincidentally I found this old map in a hollowed out chair leg, so I’m off on a quest today - to find Unicorn Way . . .

From where I am sat right now, I can see 4 blokes all stood round a can of spray paint. Arms folded deep in conversation. 1 of them has cut a channel out of the road in front of the house, appears to be for drainage.
1 bloke has just joined them, they now all look like they're a Village People tribute act. Perhaps I should hang the Alexa thingy out of the window and see if they can do the Y.M.C.A?

Well I can remember pre-Pennycrofts flats in the 50's (used to be a big Munster like house on that site.) But this might be a bit earlier. Got the pix off a Facebook group a few years back and not dated.

Yes, maybe 1940s.

Careful, you might attract a Donald Trump rally.

When I finish my 10 days of isolation on Saturday, (A-symptomatic Covid 19!) I am looking forward to travelling on it! Very dependent on the weather weather I am cycling or going in my car! :bananafunk: Bring it on! It doesn't surprise me people haven't recognised it from Joshua's video, as the complete demolition of the Universal factory has given that much neglected outpost of 'Ford a very different look. particularly as you go past the bridge from Town as you go into Doxey. Big hole were the factory used to be. Of course the connection of Union Way and the Doxey Road has negated the need to navigate that treacherous corner and slope! I was hoping the 2 'Unicorns' in Withnail's image may be placed on either end of Unicorn Way, but I bet they have gone up to the Universal building at the Junc' 14 Industrial estate! This estate is another example of the meteoric rise of the county town. Many times I've said "All these houses, where are people going to work?) Of course it may be that you consider all this development more of a 'fall'! You pays your money......
I have doubts about how much through traffic this bye pass will divert. I am sure it will lead to an increase in some other roads, and am particularly concerned about West Way! (Not in my back yard! Ed ) The single best thing the bypass brings, given that I have doubts about through traffic, is the need to not take your life in your hands when navigating the dratted curved drop as you come off the bridge headed from Town towards Doxey in ice or snow! The bus drivers working days will also be much easier, no more waiting by the the bridge till their way is clear, and that goes for all heavy vehicles!

Mmm, I've just realised there are roundabouts.

Have they finally run out of traffic lights?
I expect that, should the traffic be seen to be running too freely, some will be added in due course.

They'll also need to add some pedestrian crossings on Kingsway/Martin Drive. When I had a walk along there this morning on my way to work, to have a nose, some of the traffic obviously thought they were on Hangar Straight at Silverstone.

Three of the beggars from Newport Road to Doxey, and at least 3 between Castle Town and the A 34 I reckon; but the connection between between the bypass and A34 looks set to be (as it currently is) traffic lights.Well it wouldn't be Stafford if it wasn't! :stafford:

I realise there is a vociferous contingent worldwide (on QAnon for instance) who deny the existance of Unicorn Way - but I’m here to tell everyone that it really does exist - I rode along it on my bicycle yesterday !
