Had anyone on the forum done this recently and if so who did you use?

We need a fair bit and I don't fancy a constant run to and from Wickes....

Do you have a drive? If its like the big bags of driveway stones, they have a little crane on the lorry to place it in your drive...can't for the life of me remember the name of the place we got it from but they may sell soil too, its up off Beconside.

If not try Travis Perkins?

Would that have been Simmons - now Huws Gray..?

Whilst we have a drive it's tucked away in a courtyard and whilst jewsons delivered a load of stuff for the patio via one of those cranes, we were thinking of using someone more horticultural for the soil. it appears most of them deliver the cube on a pallet however..

It doesn't always suit, but a wander around the local area can sometimes find someone with the opposite predicament - wanting to dispose of a pile of soil, the result of some project or other.

We're starting fresh on some beds so will do it in one hit...I didn't even know Huws Gray existed having searched for bulk soil over the last few days

You could get bulk top soil when it was Simmons on Beaconside, not sure if it's still available now it's Huws Gray, but worth a try.

I'm trying to get it for free, ideally. I've already bought about 4 tonnes of top soil and managed to get a couple of tonnes free. I just need a little bit more....

Yes it's listed on their website for £62 plus a tenner delivery. Will probably pop up on Saturday to check it out and speak to them about delivery etc...

I went up to Huws Gray this morning to check out the soil and to be honest I was pretty disappointed with what I saw...

Ended up getting individual bags from Wickes (own brand) and b&q (Westland) and the quality had been excellent....

Although the down side is I have to pressure wash the new patio as it's filthy now....
