They are intending to give the same vaccine. I believe at times they've had both there on the same day, but there is a dip in supply of the Pfizer over the next couple of weeks.

Had mine at the Showground this morning, a few minutes ahead of my 11:37 appointment time.

This morning it was the Astra Zeneca / Oxford vaccine.
Same here, I was there at that time too.

My arm aches, and about 20 mins after my leaving time I developed a blistery looking rash on my face, very tender, but it disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

Miffed I didn't get a sticker though.

Blimey!

Your recovery time ends at..., sounds a little bit threatening.

What do they do with the remains if you fail to meet the time?

It's the time at which you are allowed to leave, 15 mins after the vaccine, although my rashy cheeks didn't happen till nearly 12.30pm and was gone within an hour.

They told hubby they have the capacity to do 1000-1200 jabs a day up at the showground, when they get the full supplies. (But some days they haven't had the supplies )

He, like me, was totally impressed by how well organised and efficient they were up there. Says he's never been anywhere that was as well organised as that before.

Yes, it seems very well organised.

We should be proud that we have a facility like the Showground, which has served us well over the years. Not forgetting, of course, all those who have worked and volunteered to make this as smooth an operation as it could be.

Likewise the Kingston Centre. Had our jabs there on Saturday late afternoon. There was a constant flow of recipients before & after us. Everything was fantastic from the greeting when we arrived through the young guy at the door while we waited to get in(social distancing) to the check in staff & the vaccinators not forgetting the waiting room staff. We had 2 appointments at 3-40, got out of the car at just on 3-30 & were back in at 4-02
Every experience I've had at the Kingston Centre both testing & vaccination has been very positive. We should congratulate everyone involved there for their fantastic dedication & professionalism.

I saw an interview last week with one of the scientists, they were asked if people needed to have the same vaccine second time. He said it wouldn't matter, could even be better.

Yeah. I saw that too. I thought it a bit strange but I suppose as the second dose is now being looked on as a booster it probably wouldn’t make a difference. When I had my jab & they gave me the card with vaccine details on they said to make sure I get the AZ at the second.
I saw a bit of Panorama earlier about the vaccine & fake news. I had to turn it off, I was getting too wound up about the absolute shite some of those wankers were spouting. A German professor actually said “it can make men & women sterile & also even their unborn children” FFS

The thing about getting a different vaccine for the second dose is more of a last resort, from what I understand (ie several doctors and scientists I follow on Twitter were keen to emphasise that last month). Though there are studies underway to see exactly how efficient specific combinations of vaccines are, so if anyone does receive a different second dose, it wouldn't be without data to support that combination.

Where do I sign up?

I wouldn’t worry, even just the first jab seems to be showing numbers that are significantly higher than the flu jab provides after a few weeks. The second jab is really there as a long-term booster

Wouldn't surprise me if they scrapped the second jab and just focused on getting 1st jab in as many arms as possible

I've seen it before but stumbled across this quote again earlier.

We are in the same storm
We are not all in the same boat
Some have Yachts
Some have Canoes
Some are Drowning

I didn't have a great night, I woke up at 2am in agony, arm was absolutely killing & I could barely move it, banging headache, joints aching and I was boiling hot. Bloody injection is horrible, I do hope the second doesn't cause the same problems.

If you are having the vaccine keep some paracetamol handy, it took the headache away and knocked the edge off the joint pain. Hopefully it'll only last 24 hrs.

To top that off work phoned to ask if I could cover someone's shift & I've had to say no, as I can barely move my arm.

Hope it passes quickly, Lemsip and a Nextflix box set is the best cure!
